Rohit Shetty turns 49, The man who defy physics in Bollywood
Rohit Shetty: The man whose films are high on the entertainment with
lots of action and comedy seems to know his audience really well
When people talk about Bollywood’s back-to-back hit movies, the name of B-town’s stalwart filmmaker and TV host Rohit Shetty always comes up. The director who is known for his action and comedy flicks, the man responsible for making Golmaal into one of the most popular film franchises, has come a long way and will continue to deliver bigger films and bigger box-office returns.
Unlike the other Bollywood directors, who created movies as per their notions of what the tuner world should be like, Rohit Shetty understood he is not the same as others and created films in which Rohit has a deeper, more profound knowledge of the subject than most.
Rohit Shetty is proven to be one of the premier action filmmakers working, as demonstrated by any number of his insane pieces — from Singham to Sooryavanshi, including hard-hitting comedy Golmaal.
After covid-19 pandemic, every director/filmmaker, actor, producer, and even technician in the film industry didn’t know how the box office would return to its glory days and apart from that and most importantly, they were wondering who would be the one to help get the business back on track.
It was when Rohit Shetty took the challenge and the responsibility of course with the backing of his producers, before Diwali 2021, he introduced Sooryavanshi which he had to hold onto for 19 months despite various theories that started floating. He (Rohit) believed in himself, and the rest is history as the cop saga amassed over 200 crores at the worldwide box office.
Recently in an interview, Rohit Shetty regarding his Golmaal franchise said that he will soon start work on Golmaal and will keep making Golmaal till he is making films. Now, it’s hard to name a director that’s been responsible for this much hard-core comedy.
You may not know this but as a director, Rohit has always invested his money more in the films rather than his lead actors and the great thing was, that the actors who worked with him have always supported him and understood that money isn’t important, but the scale is especially when it comes to making a massive film because the thing is that if the film worked, everyone will make money.
Directors can do miracles if they have a lot of money and with a mighty budget, come gut-wrenching action sequences that make you jump out of your seats and if it is a Rohit Shetty film then you are bound to expect some cars flying.
LIKE FATHER LIKE SON
Rohit Shetty is proud to be known for action films and said he always knew action was his calling but now we get it, this brilliant high-octane stunt-laden movies that he makes, comes naturally.
Rohit Shetty is the son of legendary stuntman-actor-action choreographer M B Shetty.

“My mother always knew that I would also do it just like my father. I started when I was 16, and today I am 49. Especially, when stunts are involved, there is a lot of calculation that matters and you need to be calm and calculative, which comes with experience. You need to be prepared both mentally and physically and we train ourselves physically, but mental strength is more important,” said Rohit Shetty once while speaking to PTI.
“Now, I know that actions and stunts in the films have become my thing, or shall I say, my identity which I never thought would go up to this level. I feel happy and proud when others make action movies and people say that it is ‘Rohit Shetty’ style,” the director added.
Like every legend, his journey was not at all easy, as in the early days of his career, the Filmmaker used to earn ₹35 and had to choose between food and travel.
DAZZLING CONTRIBUTION TO THE BOX OFFICE
For years, Rohit Shetty’s movies have been doing good in the Hindi film industry and benefitting the box office through his franchises like Golmaal and cop universe, along with Chennai Express which came in 2013 and Dilwale in 2015 made him one of the most commercially successful directors in Bollywood.
Everything changed when Rohit rose to fame in 2006 when he made the first hit part of Ajay Devgn’s comedy series Golmaal and its third part became Shetty’s first blockbuster which made it to the 100-crore club in 2010. According to multiple reports from Box Office India, the film’s total net gross is Rs 108 crore.
Rohit Shetty continued his collaborations with Ajay Devgn and started his cop universe through his action film Singham in 2011 which entered the 100-crore club, making Rs 98 crore in India and the film’s sequel managed to achieve a total net gross of Rs 140 crore.

Rohit Shetty understands his audience pretty well and focuses on providing wholesome entertainment to every section of the audience, be it urban or rural.
Earlier, Rohit Shetty in an interview said that fans end up appreciating the same scenes if they’re performed by Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), Vin Diesel or Jason Statham, in the Fast and Furious franchise, but they keep questioning my way of doing it. The filmmaker said we can also shoot the same sequences, but we just lack budget but not vision.
NOT JUST A FILMMAKER
Apart from filmmaking, the director has also kept in touch with the audience by appearing in multiple reality shows like being on the judge’s panel for Comedy Circus, and a host for several seasons of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi.
His love for cars and action is well-known, and he is the package that guarantees fun & entertainment, and assures value for the money that you spend on the film. Rohit Shetty will continue to be the ultimate blockbuster machine of Bollywood, as long as the faith in his films continue.
With all the achievements on the commercial front, he is undoubtedly among the most successful directors of Bollywood with an impeccable track record.
Happy Birthday Shetty Sahab!
