A painful defeat was described by India’s Lakshya Sen in the bronze medal match at the Paris Olympics men’s singles badminton match. However, the recent event gave rise to some negative incidents and controversies, but the Bollywood actor, Ranveer Singh, has wholeheartedly supported this young athlete. Lakshya created history, and he became the first Indian male shuttler who make position in the semi-final of Olympic Men’s Badminton at the young age of 22. Ranveer patted him on the back and appreciated Lakshya’s effort and determination stressing on ‘fighting another day!’.

that too Ranveer Singh complimented Lakshya through his Instagram page. He posted a photo of the shuttler along with emotional writeup: “What a player! What endurance, what agility, what a range of shots, what focus, what grit, what smarts. Scintillating badminton on display. man, I can’t begin to explain just how well he played at the Olympics It all came down to a few points and an/o few of those matches could have gone either ways.

In the bronze medal match, Lakshya supported Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia and lost the match by the score of 13-21, 21-16, 21-11. In the final, Lakshya conceded that he could have capitalized on his opportunities: “I was in my chances. Second set, maybe I could have played better. He played well. I am not able to take it right now ‘ Between the points, there is blood on the floor and so I was losing some rhythm and was on a break for some time Then I was serving again and was trying to find form in the match again’

During the time when Lakshya broke down, retired badminton player Prakash Padukone lamented on the performance of Indians in the sport. He bemoaned that the players failed to maximise on the available huge facilities and made statements like, “The players should be ashamed of themselves and stop demanding for more from the federations. They need to question if they are pushing themselves since all of these players even have their personal physiotherapist and all this facilities. I don’t believe any other country, including the United States, has as many facilities.

Although Lakshya’s experience at the Paris Olympics was disappointing, the strong support from fans and famous people like Ranveer Singh shows his talent and the promising future ahead for this young badminton player.
