Ranveer Allahbadia Faces Backlash Over Inappropriate Remarks on India’s Got Latent, Issues Apology but Fails to Win Public Forgiveness

Popular content creator Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as ‘BeerBiceps,’ has gotten himself into trouble after making a series of inappropriate statements on Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent. The controversy erupted when Allahbadia made highly objectionable questions to one of the contestants on the show that left the audience in shock. His crude references to genitalia and an outlandish hypothetical scenario involving the contestant’s parents quickly spun a full-blown internet outrage that eventually prompted multiple complaints and loud condemnation.

A Public Apology, But No Redemption

The backlash mounted, and Allahbadia hit the social media space to apologize publicly. His words were such that they came off as not only inappropriate but also unfunny. “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry,” he said while taking full responsibility for the words.

Although he apologized, the deal was done. Allahbadia accepted his words to be a “lapse in judgment” and let the world know through his speech that he was “learning from this experience.” He added further, “The podcast is watched by people of all ages, and I don’t want to be the kind of person that takes that responsibility lightly. Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect.”

Trying to salvage the situation, Allahbadia declared that he had requested the producers of the show to delete the offending parts from the episode. He ended his apology by seeking forgiveness: “All I can say in the end is I am sorry. I hope you forgive me as a human being.”

Internet Unforgiving, Backlash Continues

Despite his apology, social media users were nowhere near convinced. Many criticized the influencer for addressing the issue only after extreme backlash and questioning his sincerity. “There is no going back. The question which you asked on the show tells about your mindset,” one user commented.

Others pointed out the contradiction between Allahbadia’s self-proclaimed interest in spirituality and the nature of his comments. “You already lost our respect. If this is the way you talk about parents, then sorry bro—you’ve failed. Just remove all those spirituality videos as well. No respect for you,” another user remarked.

Some even raised their concerns over the guests who have previously appeared on Allahbadia’s show and told public figures to never associate themselves with him again. One statement read, “I just hope that no spiritual Saints, celebrities, or politicians who have clean reputations ever come to your show after knowing your darker side. Yes, you are forgiven, but this is something very difficult to forget. With fame and power comes greater responsibility, which sadly you misused.”

At this crossroads in his career, Allahbadia is left precariously suspended. With this controversy, it has come at a huge cost to the millions of people whom he had drawn to himself as a result of his self-help and motivational videos. A lot of long-term followers even started calling for a step back, introspection into his choices for content.

At the moment, if his audience would forgive him for this remains unclear. What is certain, however, is that this controversy will leave a long-lasting dent on his reputation.
