Dev Dixit to Aditya Hooda, The Problematic Indian TV characters that we once adored !
Problematic Indian TV characters that we once adored!
Problematic Indian TV characters – Indian television has changed a lot in the past few years. Honestly, there are some daily soaps that have changed the narrative such as Anupama. It is currently one of the most loved shows in India. The show deals with a plethora of important issues such as the middle age crisis to even finding love in the 40s. But that doesn’t mean there is no more problematic content on television. Still, there are shows and characters that promote a patriarchal mindset, toxic masculinity, and much more that is really not required.
Today, we have compiled a list of the Male Indian TV Characters that we adored once, but honestly, they were problematic AF!
- Dev Dixit from Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi: Shaheer Sheikh gained a lot of popularity after playing this character. The show received a lot of audiences and the makers had to come up with a second season. Well, we all loved Dev. He was an obedient son, a loving husband, and a caring brother, and later on, he became a doting father. But there was a lot behind this ‘Adarsh’ character. The character had a lot of problems – From not expressing his feelings to being able to make his independent decisions, he was flawed in many ways. He was not able to accept his love for Sonakshi and was not allowing her to move on in life. And that was quite toxic.
- Aditya Hooda from Bepannah: The character was played by Harsha Chopda, one of the most desirable TV actors in India. We loved Harshad Chopda as Aditya Hooda back then. But to be honest, Aditya Hooda was a problematic character. He was not just ready to move on from his past. Zoya’s pain is a pleasure for him. Yes, he was betrayed by his wife but that doesn’t mean he will bleed on people who didn’t cut him.
3. Abhimanyu from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata hai: Currently, the show is ruling the TRP chart and Abhira has a huge fandom. They are madly, deeply, and truly in love with each other. But as we know har Pyaar Mai hadd jaroori hai. A lot of times Abhimanyu becomes so possessive that he starts giving out Kabir Singh vibes which are problematic AF.
- Raman Bhalla from Yeh hai Mohabbatein: The character was played by Karan Patel. The character was problematic AF. He was rude and a lot of times he was disrespectful towards his wife Ishita. Addressing her as Madrasan was not cool at all.
- Jetha Lal: While we all love this character, he is one of the most problematic characters on television. From calling Daya Pagal Aurat in front of the entire Gokuldham to even promoting deep-rooted patriarchy, the character is not as funny as we think.
