Parinitaa Seth: Journey from Ad Film to Web Series, Know the Story of Parinitaa Seth in her own Words

Embracing Change, Creativity, and Courage in the Entertainment Industry

A Journey Through Passion, Perseverance, and Reinvention

With more than 15 years in the entertainment industry, actress Parinitaa has seen the evolution of acting from a passion-driven field to a highly professional and structured career. In an exclusive interview, she shares her thoughts on the changing landscape of acting, her personal growth, and the magic that life holds.

The Changing Face of the Acting Industry

Parinitaa reminisces about how the industry has transformed over the years. “Earlier, acting was more of a hobby, and people came to test their luck. But now, aspiring actors are well-prepared. They undergo professional training in acting, language, dance, and even stunts. The industry today is filled with trained actors, which is great for the craft,” she explains.

Comparing her early days to the present, she highlights the stark differences in auditioning. “In our time, auditions were organized and selective. Now, hundreds are called in, and some are made to wait for hours, only to be dismissed. That’s one of the major changes I’ve seen.”

From Ad Films to Television Stardom

Many remember Parineeta for her roles in television, but few know that she started with ad films. “My first TV show was Dil Kya Chahta Hai on Star One, directed by Kake Chaudhary. It was a comedy series about three boys and two girls. Coming from the ad film industry, I had to adapt to television, but every day on set was a learning experience.”

She believes that the lack of formal training in her time made actors more natural, something she cherishes.

A Writer at Heart

Beyond acting, Parinitaa has a deep love for writing. “I express myself best through words. Since childhood, I maintained a diary, which turned into storytelling. My daughter and friends love my magical stories, which reflect how I see life—full of unexpected and beautiful surprises.”

Her love for traveling has also played a huge role in shaping her storytelling. “Acting allows you to see the world. I did a show, Tiran Travels, on DD Metro, which took me across different countries. I feel blessed to have explored so much.”

Balancing Personal and Professional Life

With a thriving career and family, Parineeta acknowledges the importance of balance. “My family—my husband, parents, and daughter—are my biggest support. They understand my profession, and we have a mutual balance in our lives.”

On being asked why details about her husband are scarce, she states, “People always look for gossip. My family is precious, and I prefer to keep them away from unnecessary attention.”

Breaking Stereotypes in ‘Ashram’

Parinitaa’s role in Ashram was a significant departure from her previous characters. The series, which sparked debates, was perceived by some as controversial. However, she believes it was a powerful story. “The show isn’t about targeting any religion; it’s about awakening people to think rationally. Blind faith exists in every society, and the message is universal.”

Lessons and Challenges in the Industry

Reflecting on the challenges she faced, she recalls how abusive language was once considered normal on sets. “Earlier, people used foul language casually. I never understood why. Thankfully, today’s industry is more respectful.”

She believes that learning never stops. “Everyone comes from different walks of life. Judging someone too quickly isn’t fair. We must give people a chance.”

The Turning Point: ‘Vanshaj’

While every project has been a learning experience, Vanshaj was a turning point in her career. “Playing a negative role was thrilling. People hated my character, which means I did my job well. It was fun to play someone so different.”

She also shared an amusing anecdote about her role as Gagri, where people compared her look to Neeta Ambani. “The look brief was inspired by power dressing, and people immediately associated it with her. It was funny yet flattering.”

Friendships and Inspirations

Parineeta values her friendships within and outside the industry. “True friends understand your busy schedules. My childhood best friend, Simra, is in journalism and constantly encourages me.”

As for her inspirations, she admires Deepika Padukone. “She carries herself with grace and never speaks ill of anyone. Her presence is powerful.”

If given a chance to portray a real-life personality, Parinitaa would choose Sridevi or Rekha. “Today’s generation needs to know who Sridevi was—her journey from a child artist to an icon. Rekha ji is another legend who has aged gracefully.”

Motherhood: A Life-Changing Experience

Motherhood has been one of the most transformative experiences of her life. “As children, we take our mothers for granted, but becoming a mother changes everything. My daughter is a teenager now, and guiding her in today’s fast-paced digital world is a challenge.”

Despite a demanding career, she prioritizes spending quality time with her daughter. “I believe every woman should be independent. I’m a better mother when I’m working, and my free time is entirely for her.”

What’s Next?

On upcoming projects, she candidly states, “An actor’s life is uncertain. If there’s work, we work. If not, we wait or search for new opportunities. I’ve been blessed with great work, and something exciting is on the way.”

With her unwavering passion for acting, writing, and storytelling, Parineeta continues to be a force in the industry, inspiring many with her journey.

  1. More than 15 years in the industry, how has your perspective on acting and fame evolved over the years?

Parinitaa- It’s a very glamorous profession. Earlier, it used to be more of a hobby for people, but over time, it has become a serious profession. Previously, people would enter the industry to try their luck, but now, aspiring actors come well-prepared. Nowadays, there are proper colleges and schools for acting, and every other day, you see new acting classes opening. The new generation of actors is well-trained in every aspect- acting, language, dance, fight sequences, and even vocals. Earlier, acting was more natural, but now, actors undergo proper training, which is actually very good.

  1. How was it when you entered the industry?

Parinitaa- That was a beautiful era. Back then, the competition was very healthy. I started my career with ad films, and during my time, the ad film industry was primarily based in one place- the famous Tardeo Studio. It was a great experience; the people there were very polished and well-educated. They knew how to conduct themselves professionally.

If you were called for an audition, they knew exactly whom they had invited and for what purpose. Nowadays, it’s very different. They call everyone to auditions, and there are times when some poor aspiring actor stands outside for three hours only to be told to go back home. This is one of the major negative changes I have seen in the industry today.

  1. You started your career with CID, right?

Parinitaa- No, I started my career in television with ad films. After that, my first TV show was Dil Kya Chahta Hai on Star One. Kake Chaudhary was the director, and it was a comedy show.

  1. How was the experience of doing your first show, and how much did it shape you for the industry?

Parinitaa- It was a comedy show about three boys and two girls. I had a great time working on it and learned a lot. Since I came from the ad film industry, television was a completely different space for me. But it was a learning experience- understanding how to deliver dialogues properly, as we hadn’t come from acting schools. So, going on set every day was like attending school for me.

  1. I guess the advantage was that all of you were natural actors?

Parinitaa- Yes, the directors and actors guided us, and we followed their directions while adding a little bit of our own understanding to it.

  1. You have mentioned in your past interviews that you love writing and traveling. How do these things play a specific role in your life, and how do they influence your career?

Parinitaa- See, I have a creator’s heart, so writing comes to me naturally. I can express myself very well through words, which is why I love writing. You know, we were always taught that at the end of the day, we should write in a diary before going to bed. That habit gradually developed into writing stories from my own perspective.

I have a daughter, and when she was little, I used to tell her bedtime stories. That led me to create beautiful storybooks for her and for kids in general.

As for traveling, acting is the best profession when it comes to exploring different places. I have traveled the world—I once did a show called Tilran Travels– Duniya Ki Sair Kar Lo, which aired on DD Metro. With Bagh Productions, I got the opportunity to see the world. Even in our profession, we shoot in different locations, and it’s just amazing.

  1. The current generation doesn’t even know about DD Metro!

Parinitaa- (Laughs) Yes, they have no idea! But I was lucky enough to travel the world with them. Traveling in this profession is so exciting- we go to so many different places. It’s lovely, and honestly, actors are quite spoiled when it comes to traveling and staying in the best hotels!

  1. I’m also a solo traveler, so I can understand how you feel at this moment.

Parinitaa- It’s lovely! You meet new people, try different cuisines, and experience different skies.

  1. So many new adventures!

Parinitaa– Yes, I believe that’s the best education one can have.

  1. Yes, that’s true. So, how are you balancing your personal and professional life? You’ve been in the industry for so many years now.

Parinitaa- I’m grateful to my family. They are very, very understanding about what I love and what I have taken up, just as I understand what they love. It’s a mutual balance. My family is my biggest support- my husband, my parents, and my daughter, who is now a teenager. I think when you have a good family, you are truly blessed.

  1. I actually searched a lot, but I couldn’t find any name or details about your husband. What’s the reason? Are you hiding it, or is it just that people are unable to find out?

Parinitaa- You know what happens? People always need a topic to talk about. And for me, my family is extremely precious. So, I prefer to keep everything aside. What you see on camera and in photographs isn’t always real. And if people get the chance to ruin something good, they won’t hesitate. That’s the real problem.

  1. What is the most beautiful and memorable piece of writing you have done—one that you love the most and is also deeply loved by your close ones and friends? Can you share it with us?

Parinitaa- I write stories, and my daughter, along with a few of my friends, loves them. They are magical stories, actually. I’ve always seen life as a kind of magic. Everything is magical—you know, the rising sun, meeting new people, having an unexpected conversation, or even thinking about someone, and suddenly they call you. If that’s not magic, then what is? That’s what my stories are all about.

  1. That’s beautiful! Is there any particular story or moment from your childhood, or maybe when you were around 18, that made you realize you wanted to pursue this career?

Parinitaa- I believe that whatever is meant to happen will happen. As a kid, when I went to my principal to collect my leaving certificate from school, she told me, “I’m sure one day I’ll see you on TV.” The funny thing is, I had stage fear- I don’t even know where that came from! But you know how they say, when you speak something into existence, it often comes true.

  1. You often say that you were meant for the entertainment industry so that he could see that.

Parinitaa- Yes! And that’s what I remember when I did my first ad film. I was shocked because I never thought I had stage fear. That’s how my journey began- my principal had already seen the magic in me.

  1. You still look so young! When we see your pictures and appearances, we always wonder- how do you maintain yourself?

Parinitaa- Well, first of all, there’s the camera! But beyond that, I’m blessed with good genes- I have to give credit to my parents for that; they have really, really good genes. Secondly, hard work is essential. I never miss a single day of my workout. I eat healthy- I’m a vegetarian, so my diet is very clean and nutritious.

  1. So, you’re very particular about your routine and diet?

Parinitaa- Yes! I wake up early, do my yoga and workout properly, and I follow the sun’s rhythm. According to Ayurveda, you should eat your meals before sunset, and I try to stick to that. I want to finish.

  1. In your industry, maintaining this kind of lifestyle is a very big task.

Parinitaa- No, it’s just about making it a lifestyle. If anything becomes a part of your lifestyle, you won’t feel like, Oh, why am I doing this? I have to do it. If you change that mindset, it becomes very easy.

  1. After working on television for several years, you then did Hum Tum, right? How different was that experience for you? Because television has its own way of working, and when you switch to movies, the shooting process and everything else are quite different. Did you find it very different or difficult?

Parinitaa- That was actually a very small role, just a cameo. But it was a good experience. The producer was really great.

  1. But your role in Ashram was very, very significant. You looked so different in it! We never expected you to play such a role, and it felt so real. If someone who doesn’t know the industry watched the series, they would genuinely believe that you are exactly like that character. The show also had many controversies, and people had mixed reactions. Some felt that it was showing the right things, exposing figures like Baba Ram Rahim, while others believed it negatively impacted Hinduism. What was your perspective on that? Because you are also Hindu and follow Hinduism, how would you like to answer them?

Parinitaa- You know, no one belongs to just one religion. You’ll always find people who try to manipulate others. This story isn’t about one specific person- it’s just that you found a character that might remind you of someone, but such people exist everywhere. In the end, we are all just human beings, and deep inside, so many people are suffering. They just need someone to guide them and show them the right path. This isn’t about targeting any religion- it’s about making people aware and encouraging them to think for themselves.

I have a daughter, and if someone tells me to leave her somewhere overnight for any reason, why would I do that? Even if I’m in a difficult situation, I should still use my own mind, right? That’s what this is about. It’s not about Hinduism or any other religion. People are unnecessarily making it a religious issue.

  1. So, another reason people are questioning it is the title itself- Ashram is a Hindi word, and some feel that it specifically targets Hindus.

Parinitaa- Look, no matter what I say, it will turn into a controversy. But according to me, it’s a beautiful story. Even if they had named it something else- like Hostel or anything else- every religion demands its own rights and recognition. Instead of focusing on the name, we should focus on what we can learn from it. Hinduism has such a vast and rich history, and we have so many great scriptures- we should focus on learning from them. As for why they chose this particular title, I don’t know; they must have had their own reasons. But as an actor, I can say that there is absolutely no disrespect to any religion.

  1. People need to understand what we are trying to make them understand.

Parinitaa- It’s just a matter of perspective- how people choose to see things- and then turning it into a controversy. According to me, it’s just a story. Please don’t blindly believe anything. We don’t leave our jewelry with a servant or a watchman, right? Then how can we leave our daughters like that? God is everywhere. This is a highly controversial topic.

  1. That’s true. This has become such a controversial issue that, at some point, it feels like people can be completely brainwashed.

Parinitaa- Yes, people have become so advanced when it comes to brainwashing others. But all I will say is that it’s a beautiful story.

  1. At the same time, there are many lessons people can take from it—what to do and what not to do. It highlights things that many people don’t usually talk about. Somewhere, these things are happening, and that’s why this story was made, right?

Parinitaa- Yes, it’s happening everywhere. Use your brain! If you’re not using your brain, then I’m sorry- don’t blindly follow any religion.

  1. Because it’s your decision, not religion’s decision. What are the challenges and memorable experiences you’ve had in your 15-year-long career? Are there any moments that stand out as learning experiences for you?

Parinitaa- One major thing I’ve noticed is how people use foul language. Nowadays, new directors and the younger generation are well-educated. Even earlier, people were well-educated, but back then, using abusive language was considered “cool.” Now, thankfully, people realize it’s not, and I’m so grateful for that. I never understood why people would abuse while talking- it was a big problem for me. I always believed that everyone deserves respect, so why not just talk respectfully? That was one of my biggest issues in the industry.

  1. Were there any challenges that made you uncomfortable or taught you valuable lessons?

Parinitaa- I learn something new every day from everyone. People come from different walks of life, traveling from far-off places. It’s very easy to judge someone- to say, Oh, they did this or They spoke like that. But I’ve learned to give people a chance. It’s okay. People have their own reasons for behaving in certain ways. And I’ve been truly blessed with a supportive family, which has helped me a lot in understanding this

  1. What has been the most fulfilling project of your career so far? You’ve done so many things.

Parinitaa- I’ll tell you about my turning point- Vanshaj was my turning point. Before that, every show I did was a wonderful experience where I learned so many new things. But my last show, Vanshaj, was another major turning point for me in television. It gave me recognition, and people loved it. Every day when I step out, people come up to me and talk about it. I really enjoy playing a negative role- it’s so much fun! Positive characters are always crying, but when you play a negative character and convince people to hate you, that’s a challenge. When people come up to me and say, We hate you, I love hearing that! Because that means my character is working.

  1. What was the most rewarding feedback or recognition you received?

Parinitaa- Vanshaj again! I played the role of Gargi, and the look brief given to me was inspired by Nita Ambani. When I was out in public, people would stop me and say, You’re playing Nita Ambani! And I was like, No, I’m not playing Nita Ambani! But my look resembled hers so much that people made that association. That kind of recognition was really special.

  1. Do you have close friends within the industry or outside of it? How do you manage your friendships?

Parinitaa- I have friends both inside and outside the industry. But honestly, friendship is such a beautiful relationship that you don’t have to manage it. Real friends understand- if you’re busy, you’re busy. If you need them, they’ll be there for you at any given moment. There’s no need to balance anything; true friendships just flow naturally. My friends from the industry, the ones I’ve grown up with, understand me very well. And I don’t think anyone else could understand me better.

  1. Best Friend

Parinitaa- I have a childhood best friend named Simra, and we are still together. She constantly encourages me to try new things. She is also in journalism and teaches me a lot- in fact, she always helps me. Friends are like a true mirror, and I feel blessed to have such good friends.

  1. Do you have any dream roles you want to play?

Parinitaa- I always wanted to play the role of Sridevi’s mother- it was such a beautiful role. In fact, all of her movies inspire me. English Vinglish is one of my favorites; she was absolutely stunning in it. She carried herself with such grace and brilliance. From Sadma to Chandni, she was exceptional. But nowadays, people only talk about Janhvi Kapoor without realizing where those genes come from.

  1. I found in my research that you admire Deepika Padukone a lot. How does she inspire you in your personal and professional life?

Parinitaa- You know, I wish I could pull myself up and be as tall as her! Even after having a baby, her body looks amazing. The way she carries herself is so graceful. She speaks less, but she knows exactly how to present herself. I believe her upbringing plays a huge role- coming from a family like hers, with a father like that, and parents who have such a strong bond. She has never spoken negatively about anyone and has always maintained grace in her life. If I ever get a chance, I would definitely love to work with her.

  1. If you get a chance to be part of a biographical film, who would you like to portray and why?

Parinitaa- Sridevi. I feel that the current generation doesn’t truly know her, but they should understand who she was- how she started as a child artist and the incredible journey she had. Her life was filled with ups and downs, and I would love to portray her story. Everything she went through, her struggles, and her achievements deserve to be shown. Even Rekha Ji is another inspiring personality- she has remained timeless. She also started her career as a child artist, and look at her now.

  1. Can you talk about your motherhood journey? How did life, your thoughts, and challenges change after becoming a mother? What were the most beautiful experiences?

Parinitaa- Motherhood changes everything. As girls, we never imagine that we will become exactly like our mothers. We often take our mothers for granted, but when we become mothers ourselves, we truly understand how beautiful it is. A mother’s love is the purest- no one else can love the way a mother does. The feeling I got after becoming a mother is that your whole life now revolves around your child. From the moment you wake up, you think about them. I have a teenage daughter, and it’s a big challenge to teach her what is right and what is wrong. After COVID, life has changed so much. People have less patience, and kids are always scrolling through their phones. This is one of the biggest challenges I face with my daughter. But despite everything, motherhood is the most beautiful relationship in the world.

  1. You are in an industry where managing time is a big challenge. How do you balance time with your daughter?

Parinitaa- I am a better mother when I am working. I believe every woman should stand on her own feet- it’s very important. I feel my best when I’m working. But whenever I have free time, it belongs entirely to my daughter. Whatever she wants to do, whatever I want to do- it’s just me and her, nobody else.

  1. What does your daughter love to do? Will we see her on screen, or is she choosing a different path?

Parinitaa- It’s her life. If she wants to join the industry, it has to be her decision. But first, education comes first. She needs to stand on her own feet, and then if she chooses to join the industry, that’s up to her. I think the industry is a beautiful space with opportunities for everyone. Let’s see how it goes for her.

  1. Does she watch you and follow your work?

Parinitaa- She watches every move I make! The one handling my Instagram and PR team is actually managed by someone else, but she still dominates them, deciding what should be added and what should not. This new generation has their own way of thinking- I may not always understand the words she uses, but yes, she is very involved!

  1. Do you have any upcoming projects that you can share?

Parinitaa- Very honestly, I will answer this truthfully- this is an actor’s life. If we have work, we really have work. If we don’t, we wait for it. If work doesn’t come to us, we go searching for it. I feel blessed that I have work, and I have been offered some beautiful projects. So yes, something exciting is on the way!
