Nita Ambani Dazzles in a Regal Parsi Gara Saree at Harvard, Showcasing Timeless Indian Craftsmanship and Elegant Fashion

Nita Ambani’s recent visit to Harvard captivated audiences for many reasons, but one of the most striking elements was her choice of attire. Known for her deep appreciation of traditional Indian textiles, the Reliance Foundation chairperson graced the event in a breathtaking Parsi Gara saree, showcasing the rich heritage and craftsmanship of this timeless weave. Newly released pictures offer a closer look at the intricate details of this regal ensemble, leaving fashion enthusiasts in awe.

Designed by the master couturier Manish Malhotra, blue-black saree was a family heirloom, handsomely restored by saree revivalist Zenobia S. Davar. With light-colored floral embroidery, the cloth was a testament of centuries of skillful excellence. The Parsi Gara saree is vastly culturally symbolic for Parsis, traditionally donned at weddings and festivities. With the amount of craftsmanship dexterity, stitching work itself would last between three months and two weeks and absorbs the skillful fingers of skilled workers. The touch of expertise and dexterity amount of quality craftmanship achieved led to the resultant saree to be an embodiment of wearable artwork.

To enhance the glisten of the collection, the saree was worn by Nita Ambani with a tailored blouse by Manish Malhotra, just harmoniously juxtaposing traditional as well as current couture. The designer addressed the outfit and discussed how handloom fabric discourse and the methodology of developing archives of embroideries have always proved to be enriching. Nita Ambani made a visit to Harvard’s highly acclaimed India Conference 2025, where she delivered the keynote address. Her Ivy League campus tour, combined with her fashionably dressed presence, again indicated her commitment to preserving India’s textile heritage while embracing global platforms with poise.
