National Cinema Day was celebrated for the first time in 2019 by the Multiplex Association of India to achieve a social cause to enjoy the film with affordable prices. It is often marked with movie tickets usually being sold at vastly reduced prices that could easily be afforded by all classes in society to sample the theatre’s cinema. The day essentially becomes a way of building empathy where the audience gets to understand movies differently auxiliary to the streaming platforms.

Indian cinema is evolving and expanding and for getting a wider understanding of its evolution a quick look over its a brief history is necessary.

Bollywood cinema has its origin that began over a century ago. The first Indian full length feature film named Raja Harishchandra was made by Dadasaheb Phalke, sometimes referred to as the ‘father of Indian cinema and was released in the year 1913.
