In an NDTV review, Saibal Chatterjee who is an associate editor and catalogue and critic labelled Mr & Mrs Mahi a below-average musical drama in his 2/5 star review.
What he said: “The lead actors do their best to ensure that the audience remains connected to the plot and feelings of the two main characters. I have watched Rajkummar Rao perform on a level playing field and he effectively portrays Mahendra’s remorse, some of it aimed at the father and the rest towards the wife, anger even if the dialogues that the character utters are tinged with self-pity.
“Janhvi Kapoor plays Mahima and is okay in portraying an indecisive character that fluctuates between subjugation and dominance Her handling of the willow is realistic for a greenhorn all right, but the marital pressures that hinder Mahima’s assertiveness marginalise the feminine strength that she symbolises,” the review concluded.
