Can Ishq Vishk Rebound Be A Weekend Watch?
Are you looking for something to watch this weekend? Maybe something romantic, slightly funny and a whole lot of modern day love stories? If yes, then Ishq Vishk Rebound is the perfect choice!
Releasing on 21st June, Ishq Vishk Rebound is a sequel to the super hit 2003 film. Ishq Vishk, even today is one of the most loved movies and was helpful in establishing Shahih Kapoor as a leading ‘romantic hero’. When Ishq Vishk Rebound was first announced, there was just nostalgia and people could not stop gushing about how adorable Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao looked together.
Shahid Kapoor had also shared the trailer of the movie on his Instagram story with teh caption “I hope this will be as special for you as it was for me 21 years ago” and wished the team good luck for the movie.

The Ishq Vishk craze
The 2003 movie was directed by Ken Ghosh and starred Shahid Kapoor, alongside Amrita Rao and Shenaz Treasurywala. This was also the official film debut for Kapoor, who had earlier appeared in music videos and commercials. The movie is also termed as a ‘sleeper hit’, a movie that does not show much promise, but turns out to be a surprising success.
This 2003 movie had helped launch the careers of both Kapoor and Rao.
Shenaz Treasurywala, as a supporting actress did a good job but her stint in Bollywood was short lived. She is now a successful travel vlogger.

The lead cast of the movie include Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan, Naila Grrewal. Saraf is now a seasoned actor who is known for his chocolate boy looks and his fan following is intense.
For actress Pashmina Roshan, this is her first debut on the big screen. While sharing the news on Instagram, she commented “It feels like years of austerity and hard work is finally bearing fruits. I’m extremely excited, nervous and elated to bring to you my first experience on screen. When relationships can be found on apps, and lost over a chat, you know that love needs an upgrade. ISHQ VISHK REBOUND. It’s time to move on.”
Jibraan Khan, the son of Firoz Khan also plays the lead role in the movie, his first big break as an adult actor.
For actress Naila Grrewal, this is her first time playing the lead romantic heroine and she has previously been seen in a few movies and the recent OTT series Maamla Legal Hai.
The movie directed by Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari has been produced by Ramesh Taurani and Jaya Taurani.
Kusha Kapila, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Akarsh Khurana, Shilpa Vishal Shetty, Shataf Figar, Anita Kulkarni and Sheeba Chadda are also seen in the movie as secondary and supporting cast members.
Music by Rochak Kohli has been doing quite the rounds and some renditions of songs from the 2003 movie have been received very well.
Movie Review
The movie is a no brainer and a simple romantic comedy. It has its moments of fun and moments where you can anticipate the next scene and dialogue. Maybe this movie speaks more of this generation and the age old story of love and friendship and if a guy and girl can only be friends?

It goes without saying that the story is a little generic and does not really break the Ishq Vishk craze.
The movie runs only for 1 hour 46 minutes, making it a very short watch and probably a good pick for the weekend.
