Deadpool & Wolverine Movie Review: Do Not Miss This!

Deadpool & Wolverine is your weekend dose of fun!

Deadpool & Wolverine has been making all the rage on the Internet and rightfully so! It starts on a high note and also ends on a high note- making the entire move watching process an absolute thriller.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are no strangers to their roles, having played Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively, for many years. Seeing this unique combination of Superheroes together is certainly a dream come true.

The film is directed by Shawn Levy, who has also directed ‘Free Guy’, ‘The Adam Project’ and the super successful OTT series ‘Stranger Things’. Levy has heavily worked with Reynolds in his other projects and if you have watched his other movies, you would see some sort of similarity between these projects and how they have the same theme.

For the uninitiated, the first Deadpool is another superhero from the Marvel Universe and his first comic was released in 1991. The solo movie of Deadpool was released in 2016 and was an instant hit due to the stellar performance by Reynolds. This is the third instalment in the series that has come after a long waiting period of 6 years.

Wolverine is a mutant who needs no introduction. Wolverine, also known as Logan, first appeared in “The Incredible Hulk #180” in October 1974. Wolverine became a central character in the X-Men series and since the first movie that came out in 2000, he has been a fan favourite. The fact that it is played by Jackman, a true artist, also helped with its success.

Deadpool & Wolverine Movie Review

Now, people have given mixed reviews of the movie. While some have loved the comedy (and believe me, there is a lot of that!), many feel that the movie does not do justice to the usual MCU franchise. That being said, there is a lot of expectations from the movie as the entire MCU franchise is currently going through a lull phase. The combination of Wolverine and Deadpool was long awaited and the pair has done justice on screen. The foul-mouthed Deadpool has delivered more jokes than dialogues and action sequences.

Dean Zimmerman, Shane Reid and George Richmond have done a really good job with the editing and cinematography and made the movie come alive.  Matthew Macfadyen, who plays Agent Paradox also has to be appreciated for his stunning performance.

The plot, to be honest, is a little flat. A lot more complexities ans twists could have been incorporated to make it an unforgettable experience.  The mix of characters from different series and the multi universe approach did feel a little done and dusted. But, in all, the movie should not be missed.

If you are looking for some laughs and also having a light weekend, then the movie hits all the right spots! My only suggestion is to watch the initial movies to understand some of the jokes. The plot, however, is not that intertwined with the Marvel Comics Universe or the first two movies in the series. So, feel free to watch this as your first experience!
