Birthday Special: Remembering Legendary Madhubala on her birthday!
When we describe utter beauty, the first name that comes to our mind is of Madhubala. She was known for her aura and beauty. Everything about her was dreamy. Those luscious locks, deer-shaped eyes, her oh-so-dreamy Adaayein, and her phenomenal acting skills made her first female superstar of Bollywood. She was born on February 14, 1933. Mughal –E- Azam is the greatest Bollywood film. The film released in the year 1960 and its beauty still lingers in the minds of movie buffs. The film took 12 years to get completed. The original cast had Nargis in the film but she gave way to Madhubala.
On the occasion of her birthday, let us peep into the journey of her life. In the biography of Madhubala written by freelance journalist and author, Mohan Deep wrote, “She was a woman possessed. Haunted by her own insecurities until the very end. She loved men. And lost them.”
She was a female superstar and was a part of some very successful films. Unfortunately, her personal life wasn’t that great. There were seven men in her life but all of them left her when she needed them the most.

Her Fragile Relationships
She was a superstar and was magical on screen but her personal life was a mess. She was in a search of true love, companion and someone on whom she can rely on. She had a very serious relationship with Dilip Kumar. They dated each other for nine years and got engaged. But things didn’t work out and they parted their ways. One cannot believe that the most erotic feather sequence was shot when the couple was not on talking terms. Dilip Kumar too has mentioned about it in his autobiography The Substance and the Shadow.
After dating 6 men and going through failed relationships. She craved for stability. She met Kishore Kumar on the sets of Chalti Ka Naam Gadi. They fell in love with each other and got married in the year 1960. Post marriage they flew to London where Madhubala was diagnosed with a hole in her heart. Doctors declared that she has only two years to live. She died at the age of 36, leaving behind only memories, stardust and mystery.
Her contribution to Indian Cinema is commendable and she is still an inspiration for so many heroines out there.
