Kolkata International Film Festival to commence on December 4, announces Mamata Banerjee
The 30th edition of KIFF, the Kolkata International Film Festival, is scheduled to start in December this year. This mamata Banerjee added that the film festival shall be in Kolkata from December 4 to 11 in 2024. The 30th edition shall be executed by Department of Information and Cultural Affairs of the Government of West Bengal. We would like to inform you that this film festival is organized annually by the Government of West Bengal. ‘KIFF’ was started a little earlier in the year 1995. Feature films, documentary films and short films are types of films that are exhibited in this film festival event.
Gautam Ghosh – President of ‘KIFF’
Esteemed director Gautam Ghosh has been selected for the position of ‘President’ for ‘KIFF’ while great Bengali movie actor Prosenjit Chatterjee for ‘Vice-President’. While announcing the same, The CM of West Bengal said that like every other year, the icons of world and Indian cinema will be presented during the festival. Speaking on the 44th death anniversary of Bengali film legend Uttam Kumar Mamata Bannerjee assured that his spirit would steadfast as a meaning icon of culture and tradition of the state. Banerjee said remembering the importance of West Bengal in the artistic map of India, that cine lovers have got ‘KIFF’ as the most special destination due to its diversification.
Mamata Banerjee Addresses Gautam Ghosh and Prosenjit Chatterjee-
The festival is to be grandly celebrated this year and for this Goutam Ghosh and Prosenjit Chatterjee will independently constitute a committee of similar specialists. Mamata remembered films of Uttam Kumar during this and said that her mother used to take to watch films of Uttam Kumar. Thus, playback songs in films are immortal and Uttam Kumar is not an alien to the identity and heritage of West Bengal alone; he has also given a lesson that one should remember ones’ roots: these are the quotes of Mamata Banerjee. She also honored a specific award in Bengali cinema for Prosenjit Chatterjee for his work in Bengali cinema for forty years.
