Kareena Kapoor Khan Summoned Over Book Title Controversy
Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor has received a notification from the Madhya Pradesh High Court concerning a plea to have the word "Bible" removed from the title of her book.
Court Issues Notice To Kareena Kapoor Khan For Using ‘Bible’ In Book Title
Madhya Pradesh High Court: In a petition filed in this Court in 2022 where the applicant was seeking a case to be registered against actress Kareena Kapoor Khan whom 6 others were accused of being involved in naming her pregnancy book as “Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Pregnancy Bible”, the single-juge bench of G. S. Ahluwalia, J , issued notices to be given within seven days.
Justice GS Ahluwalia dispatched the direction for notices to be issued so that within the next seven days defendants could be notified. The court needs the actor to explain the reason behind the word ‘bible’ in the title.
The petition was filed by a citizen of Jabalpur, advocate Christopher Anthony, in 2022 after the release of the book, ‘Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Pregnancy Bible’. The major concern is whether the usage of the word “bible” in the title of Kareena Kapoor Khan’s book is an act that offends the religious sentiments of Christians, specifically Christians. The applicant claimed that the use of the word “bible” in the book title violates the religious sensitivities of Christians.
The division delivered notices to the appellants, that is Sayesha Saigal and others, inclusive of Kareena Kapoor Khan. The Court decided that further explanation was fair for the petitioner and proceeded to request them to state the reasons behind using the word bible in the title. The matter is expected to be listed for further proceedings after the Court’s vacations in July.
