Kanguva Box Office Collection Day 4: Suriya’s Epic Fantasy Action Film Crosses Rs 50 Crore Mark Despite Mixed Reviews and Audience Struggles Across Multiple Languages
Kanguva, the epic fantasy action drama starring Suriya and Bobby Deol, had no easy day on its fourth. Considering it is so big-scale with the widest star casts under one roof, the movie could look less overwhelming than expected from the output so far. A massive criticism has been towards the multi-timeline usage in the film, with some considering it to be a weakness for the storytelling process.

The movie started with a pretty decent collection of Rs 24 crores across all languages on the opening day. However, it witnessed a phenomenal drop on the next day wherein the collections plummeted by over 60% to mere Rs 9.5 crores. Kanguva regained some ground on the next day and collected an insignificant amount of Rs 9.85 crores on Saturday. On day four, Sunday, the movie made it to Rs 50 crore and went into a total of Rs 53.85 crores after collecting Rs 10.50 crores.

Tamil version: The Tamil version has done reasonably well, but in the dubbed versions of Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, the film has performed lowly. Occupancy was at 33.79% on Sunday. Maximum occupancy throughout the day is afternoon shows. A region-wise comparison would reveal that the Hindi version was pretty weak with an occupancy rate of just 14.50%. Dindigul topped it with an occupancy rate of 36.57%, followed by Chennai and Pondicherry, while in Mumbai and Delhi NCR, the movie did much more poorly than this. Interestingly, in Bengaluru, the Hindi version performed much better.
Kanguva is a coming film where Bobby Deol would play the role of a baddie after Animal. Directed by Siva and produced by K E Gnanavel Raja, Disha Patani, Yogi Babu, and Jagapathi Babu share screen space with him. The movie notwithstanding mixed reviews, has been doing well in regional circuits and is still fresh in mouths of the film-holics.
