In a recent interview, Indian film actress Janhvi Kapoor talked about how the unexpected demise of her mom, the legendary Sridevi, helped her grow more religious before the release of her upcoming film Mr & Mrs Mahi, which is set for May 31.

Explaining about how belief in superstitions grew in her after the death of the veteran actress, Janhvi told The Lallantop, “She had many beliefs such as ‘certain activities should be done on the particular dates’ and many such things like don’t cut the hair on Fridays let Goddess Lakshmi come into the house and you should never wear black on Friday…” I never really believed in all these superstitions, but after my mothers demise I have turned more superstitious.
Janhvi Kapoor also revealed that her mother Santana was a devotee of Lord Balaji of Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple at Tirumala in Tirupati of Andhra Pradesh. “She used to chant his name often, ‘Narayan Narayan Narayan. ’ She visited the temple on her birthdays while she was at work.After her marriage, she stopped doing so and after she died, I thought of visiting the temple on her birthdays at least as she couldn’t.In the first instance of the visit I felt extremely emotional but I also felt tremendous sense of relief each time.”
The Mr & Mrs Mahi actor said that she is yet to accept the death of her mother up to this time. “I believe it took some time to sink in. I speak about her now since I enjoy remembering her. At the time, I was questioning why individuals had been asking me about the occurrence. While actively promoting my first movie Dhadak, it was not long after her passing and her death was still painful and new, and I was trying to avoid it in the job I was doing.”
