Veteran Music Composer Vipin Reshammiya, Father of Himesh Reshammiya, Passes Away at the Age of 87 After Battling Health Issues

Veteran music director Vipin Reshammiya, father of popular singer and composer Himesh Reshammiya, has sadly passed away at the age of 87. Known for his contributions to Indian television and music, Vipin Reshammiya died on Wednesday evening at 8:30 pm. He had been battling breathing difficulties and age-related health issues. He was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, where he took his last breath.

The news of Vipin’s passing was confirmed by the Reshammiya family’s close friend, Vanita Thapar, who shared the heartbreaking news with ETimes. Vanita expressed her deep bond with the family, saying, “I used to call him papa since the time he was making TV serials. Later, he became a music director, and Himesh followed in his footsteps.” She also revealed that Vipin’s final rites would take place in Juhu, Mumbai, on September 19.

Vipin Reshammiya’s influence extended to his son Himesh, who frequently credited his father for shaping his own musical journey. In 2021, Himesh shared a story on Indian Idol 12 about an unreleased song his father composed with legendary singers Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar. Himesh had expressed his wish to release the song, calling it one of the finest melodies his father ever created.
