Film Navras wins three awards at Chambal International Film Festival for tackling social issues honestly
The film Navras, produced by SKH Patel and Praveen Hingonia under the banner of Swaradhrupad Productions, recently made headlines by winning three awards at the Chambal International Film Festival. The film was honored with awards for Best Feature Film, Supporting Actress Revathi Pillai, and Supporting Actor Swara Hingonia. Directed by Praveen Hingonia, Navras tackles important social issues, particularly the exploitation of women, with honesty and integrity.
What sets this film apart is its unique approach. The lead actor, Praveen Hingonia, pays tribute to legendary actors Kamal Haasan and Sanjeev Kumar by playing nine different characters in the movie. Sanjeev Kumar famously portrayed nine roles in Naya Din Nayi Raat, while Kamal Haasan took on ten characters in Dashavataram.

Navras offers a refreshing break from typical box-office films. Shot across various locations, including Kashmir and Agra, the film’s two-and-a-half-hour runtime covers nine different stories. Despite its limited budget, the filmmakers successfully conveyed powerful messages through five meaningful songs and impactful storytelling.
The film’s team took an unconventional promotional route, visiting both small and big cities across India, in contrast to major production houses that focus only on larger cities like Mumbai and Delhi. This grassroots approach helped raise awareness about the film’s social messages.

Although the film has some flaws due to budget constraints, Navras stands out for its dedication to creating positive change in society. It encourages the younger generation to think, learn, and reflect on pressing issues.
Film critics have praised the movie for its strong message, urging people to watch it not alone, but with friends to fully appreciate its impact. Some have even suggested that the government make the film tax-free and air it on Doordarshan to reach a wider audience.
The film stars Praveen Hingonia, Dayanand Shetty, Revathi Pillai, Sunita Mahesh Sharma, Prachi Sinha, Amardeep Jha, Shreya, Jai Shankar Tripathi, and Swar Hingonia. Despite its imperfections, Navras delivers a compelling cinematic experience with a strong social conscience.
