ED raids Raj Kundra’s house in money-laundering probe linked to alleged porn production case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on businessman Raj Kundra’s house on Friday as part of an investigation into a money-laundering case. Kundra, who is the husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, has been under scrutiny for his alleged involvement in the production and distribution of pornographic content.

The raids were not limited to Kundra’s home but extended to around 15 locations in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh. According to sources, these searches are part of a larger probe into allegations of financial irregularities tied to the creation and distribution of adult content via mobile applications.

This case stems from an investigation initiated by the Mumbai police in 2021. Back then, Raj Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology (IT) Act. Kundra was accused of being involved in the production of pornographic films, which were reportedly uploaded and distributed through specific mobile apps.

Following his arrest in July 2021, Kundra spent time in police custody before securing bail from a Mumbai court. At the time, he denied the allegations, claiming he was not involved in creating explicit content and that his business dealings were within the boundaries of the law.

The ED’s involvement adds a new dimension to the case. The agency is now investigating whether the alleged production and distribution of pornographic content were linked to money-laundering activities. The searches conducted on Friday aimed to uncover evidence that might support these allegations.

As of now, neither Raj Kundra nor Shilpa Shetty has issued any official statement regarding the recent raids. The ED has not disclosed further details about the findings from the searches.
