The concept of Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar getting married was not particularly supported by her parents, Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia. In a previous interview, Dimple talked about how, although first unimpressed with the concept, she ultimately came to the conclusion that it might be the best choice for Twinkle. She further mentioned that Akshay is a joker at home and called him a “wonderful man.”

Speaking at a gathering put on by FICCI FLO Jaipur, Dimple said, “I had my doubts about my daughter marrying him earlier. God be praised, she did. “As far as discipline is concerned, he is what any aspiring actor would want to be,” Dimple continued, calling Akshay “amazing.” He is a truly remarkable dude. “I see him interacting with a lot of people and he derives so much joy in just sitting and playing basketball or cards with you,” she continued, mentioning his gentle personality. He only needs to take a seat and start talking to you to make you feel wonderful. He finds me to be the object of his mischievous behavior.
Twinkle had mentioned in a previous conversation on Tweak India that her mother had requested that she move in with Akshay prior to getting married. “Nothing doing, you live together for two years,” my mother responded to my husband when he expressed his desire to wed. “You get married if you succeed,” she remarked.
After thereafter, Dimple related a story of how Akshay had deceived her into going to a surprise birthday celebration. He once said, “Please come with me; I have to go to Delhi to meet Mrs. Sonia Gandhi. I do not want to go alone. Ma is incapable of speaking even two words, and he is taking mother. I can not say no now that he is asked me to come,” she remarked. Dimple informed him that she was prepared on time, and when Akshay arrived to collect her, he realized he had left his wallet behind, so they rushed to his house to retrieve it.

While he searched for his wallet, Akshay urged her to come inside so she could meet the children. She realized this was all a ruse to bring her to her surprise 50th birthday party as Dimple intervened. “I arrive to see a big celebration for my fiftieth birthday. And he always makes it work with me,” she laughed as she reminisced.
