Diljit Dosanjh to Play War Hero in Upcoming Film Border 2

Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh is all set to play the role of Indian Air Force officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon in the upcoming war drama Border 2. The film, a sequel to the 1997 hit Border, is currently being shot in Jhansi’s Babina cantonment, with stars like Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty in leading roles. Diljit is expected to join the team in April.

Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon was a brave officer who defended the Srinagar air base during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. On December 14, 1971, the base was attacked by six Pakistan Air Force jets. Sekhon fought alone to protect it and was later awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honor, for his courage.

Diljit confirmed his role in the film during a podcast, but the producers have kept most things under wraps. According to a source close to the project, Diljit is now filming Sardaarji 3 in Scotland and will begin preparations for Border 2 by the end of March. Director Anurag Singh has set a 20-day timeline for Diljit’s sections. The dialogue portions will be filmed at the Bombay Flying Club in Juhu, while the wide-angle pictures will be taken in Kashmir. The team will reconstruct the Srinagar air base and use reproductions of the Folland Gnat fighter aircraft to ensure realism.

Sunny Deol, who played Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri in the original Border film, will reprise his role in the sequel. The first film, based on the Battle of Longewala during the 1971 war, was a huge success. Fans are excited to see how Border 2 will continue the plot.

Diljit’s appearance in the film heightens the enthusiasm, as he is known for his versatility as a singer and actor. His performance as a combat hero is expected to be a highlight of the film.
