Cruise acting career started when he was still in high school and he has his first film role in Endless Love in the year 1981. Before he became a leading man, Cruise had small roles in Penitentiary (1981), Taps (1981), and Endless Love (1981) as well as a more significant part in The Outsiders (1983) and a main character who turns his parents’ home into a brothel in Risky Business (1983). It became very popular and cruise received lots of attention after the movie. Tom Cruise really became famous with Top Gun (1986), the movie with the largest revenues in that year, in which he impersonated a navy jet pilot. In 1986 Cruise teamed up again with Paul Newman in The Color of Money directed by Martin Scorsese and in 1988 he played an autistic brother of a dubious nature in Rain Man. In the next year’s Born on the Fourth of July, in which he portrayed a Vietman War veteran activist, Cruise received his first Oscar nomination.
Cruise went on to exhibit a broad depth and range of characters in his films during the 1990s, playing such diverse roles as a navy lawyer in A Few Good Men (1992), a vampire in Interview with the Vampire (1994), and a secret agent in Mission: The two films are Impossible (1996) which main sequel was followed by sequels in 2000, 2006, 2011 and 2015; 2018 and 2023 respectively. In the 1996’s motion picture, Jerry Maguire, a motion picture that focused in sports agent, Cruise receive a second Oscar nomination. In 1999 he appeared in the final film of the director Stanley Kubrick, Eyes Wide Shut (1999) a movie about marital infidelity that was received with mixed reaction. That year, Cruise also come under appreciation as a misogynistic self-actualization motivator in Magnolia for which he got an Oscar nod in the supporting actor category.

More attention was frequently paid to Cruise’s personal life than to his acting. The Hollywood media extensively tracked both his marriage to Kidman and their 2001 divorce. His vocal backing of Scientology during the ensuing years became divisive, particularly his 2005 public denial of psychiatry’s legitimacy as a science (a stance shared by Scientologists). After being married to actress Katie Holmes from 2006 until 2012, Cruise’s public relationship with her continued to draw attention from tabloids and entertainment media.
