Ashwani Kumar in Bombay Meri Jaan: A Rising Star Shines in Crime Thriller – Nasir Edenwala Steals the Show

Recently, actor Ashwani Kumar in Bombay Meri Jaan, left a lasting impression on the hearts of the audience through his portrayal of Nasir Edenwala in this crime thriller produced by Excel Entertainment and aired on the OTT platform ‘Amazon Prime Video,’ making headlines.

Ashwani Kumar signed on for his first web series, ‘Bombay Meri Jaan,’ in 2019, and it is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime. Ashwani Kumar is presently occupied with shooting an action thriller film.

Born in Gurgaon, Ashwani Kumar studied at D.A.V School and joined the Dramatics Club because he didn’t get any homework. According to him, he didn’t know which direction the steps taken during his school days would lead him. Ashwani Kumar says that he didn’t anticipate the significant impact it would have on his career and life. He studied engineering and then worked at a prominent telecom company for some time. However, the actor within him wouldn’t let him find peace, and this restlessness led him to the Indian Film and Television Institute, Pune, from where he graduated. Here, he learned the nuances of film and acting, and during this time, he also worked on numerous films. This marked his proper introduction to the world of cinema. He considers this period the best years of his life.

Ashwani Kumar shares that after graduating from FTII, he came to Mumbai in 2017 and began auditioning. During this time, he secured his first Hindi film, ‘Raid’ (2018). Today, he no longer requires any introduction.

Ashwani Kumar is very enthusiastic about his role as Nasir Edenwala in the crime thriller ‘Bombay Meri Jaan.’ He says, “This is my first web series, and I am delighted to have had the opportunity to work with KK Menon, the exceptionally talented artist from Excel Entertainment. I have always admired his work and had a strong desire to work with him, so this is a dream come true. The director of this series, Shujaat Saudagar, treated us all like a family, which allowed us actors to deliver outstanding performances, as evident in the series. He never told us ‘how to act.’ They trusted us and gave us complete freedom to portray our characters as we saw fit, and it truly shines through in all the performances seen in the show.

In this series, I portray the character of Nasir Edenwala, a journalist and Dara’s best friend. Nasir, being a loyal friend, wants to help Dara in his own way by writing articles for him. Ashwani explained that, in line with the story’s demands, he delved into body language and speech to authentically bring the 70s time period to life on screen.”
