At a curtain-raiser event, Mishra shared his excitement about the tour and talked about the collaborative nature of his band. “It’s not just a band; it’s a family. We create songs together, and everyone has an equal say. This band belongs to all of us,” said the 62-year-old artist.
Mishra, who is celebrated for his powerful and socially conscious lyrics in songs like Aarambh from Gulaal and Ik Bagal from Gangs of Wasseypur, also announced that five new songs composed over the past year will feature during the shows. The performances will last around two hours, though not all songs will be performed at each show.
Ballimaaraan, formed in 2016, is composed of talented musicians including Nishant Agarwal on guitar, Varun Gupta on percussion, Yohaan Samuel Pissurlenker on bass guitar, Shreyas Iyer on drums, Natasha Pinto on keyboard, Harshit Shankar on flute, and Nastya Saraswati on saxophone and clarinet.
In a significant move, Mishra will also launch his debut album, Udankhatola, at the end of the tour. The event is co-produced by Tamboo Entertainment and Thinking Hats.
Rahul Gandhi, CEO of Tamboo Entertainment, described the tour as a reflection of Mishra’s restless creativity. “It’s about taking the audience on a journey through his thoughts, memories, and artistic expression,” he said.
Additionally, the band has introduced the Play and Paws initiative, pledging a portion of the tour’s revenue to support stray cats and dogs across India, showcasing their commitment to a social cause beyond music.
