Ranbir Kapoor’s latest flick, Animal, took the box office by storm on its first day. Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s much-anticipated movie clashed with Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur as it hit theatres on Friday.
The movie, boasting an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Triptii Dimrii, raked in an astounding ₹63.80 crore on its opening day. Renowned Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh hailed the movie’s impressive performance, labelling it as a “sensational” debut. Despite facing challenges like a non-holiday release, a lengthy runtime, and a clash with another major film, Animal emerged as the biggest opener for an ‘Adults’ certified film and also marked a milestone as Ranbir Kapoor’s biggest debut.

Taran Adarsh also highlighted that the film garnered ₹9.05 crore from South Indian languages, contributing to its overall collection. However, the movie received mixed reviews from critics. Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV awarded it 1.5 stars out of 5, praising the stellar performances by Ranbir Kapoor and Anil Kapoor but expressing reservations about the movie’s storytelling.
