Ananya Panday Advocates for Script Revisions in Liger After Expressing Discomfort with Character Dialogues: “As a Woman, This is Not Correct”
Ananya Panday has been doing rounds on social media to advertise her latest show titled Call Me Bae. In a recent interview with Sucharita Tyagi, Ananya shared some of her interactions as a young actor in the industry and one of the incidents, which she had while shooting for the Liger movie. She said she had issues with some of the scripts she was expected to recite for her character in the movie. For this reason, she took her stand and narrated this to the filmmakers who in turn made major changes to the script.

Speaking about her decision to ‘speak up’, Ananya said, “I am Gen-Z and using my voice for the matters important is something I strongly feel is necessary As a woman and an aspiring actress in the industry I’ve got to challenge what I feel is overtly normal but it shouldn’t be, especially when it comes to something like the safety of women”.

She said remembering her experience at Liger, ‘There are so many times that I remember looking at a script and saying, Listen, this is not right for a woman to say that. ’Fortunately, the team listened to me and made changes accordingly.

Liger, a sports action drama became Ananya’s first bilingual film that featured Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role. The film itself was not box-office-success but when Ananya had to make a choice between cash and a cause that she considered just, she was not afraid to speak out. Viewers can next see her in Call Me Bae, which will be out on September 6 on Prime Video.
