Allu Arjun becomes India's highest-paid actor with a ₹300 crore fee for Pushpa 2: The Rule, surpassing the earnings of top Bollywood and South stars.

Allu Arjun Sets New Record as India’s Highest-Paid Actor with ₹300 Crore Fee for Pushpa 2: The Rule, Surpassing Bollywood and South Cinema Giants

India's highest-paid actor charged ₹300 crore for one film, way more than Shah Rukh, Salman Khan, Prabhas or Rajinikanth - Hindustan Times

In the dynamic world of Indian cinema, where top heroes rake in a huge pay cheque, one hero has always risen to become the benchmark. Allu Arjun, synonymous with fantastic performances and unrivaled fan following, is said to be raking in a shocking ₹300 crore for Pushpa 2: The Rule. This amounts to him being the best-paid actor in India, and also places him in a league of his own even above the biggest names in the industry.

The fee of ₹300 crores is a mind-boggling figure, especially when compared to the standard salaries of Bollywood and South Indian superstars. For years, ₹100 crore had been the standard benchmark for a star’s pay and gradually became the norm for a film’s budget also. Now that top stars quote between ₹150-250 crore for their films, Allu Arjun’s ₹300 crore fee for Pushpa 2 is indeed a milestone. For instance, Rajinikanth bagged ₹250 crore for Jailer, while Vijay reportedly pocketed the same amount for Leo. While not uncommon, the biggest stars in Bollywood-Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan-charge anywhere from ₹150 to ₹200 crore for their biggest hits. Even Aamir Khan, whose work in Dangal in 2017 was estimated to fetch over ₹230 crore, thanks largely to its massive success in China.

Even though the amount is astronomical, questions have cropped up on the authenticity of Allu Arjun’s ₹300 crore fee. However, experts feel there is a logical explanation. Much like his peers Prabhas, Allu Arjun is likely to have fetched a cut through distribution rights and profit shares rather than a signing amount. That way, if Pushpa 2 turns out to be a mass hit, setting the cash registers ringing at over ₹1000 crore, which seems possible from the going trends, Arjun’s money would exceed ₹250-300 crore. That reflects how Aamir Khan also attracted the entire amount for the movie Dangal because of its great success in China.

Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule is the sequel to the 2021 pan-India blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise. The film continues the story of Arjun’s character, the sandalwood smuggler Pushpa Raj, along with co-stars Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil. With the excitement surrounding its release on December 5, it’s poised to break multiple records, including possibly setting a new high for Allu Arjun’s earnings.
