Actress Sajitha Madathil Criticizes Mohanlal’s Resignation as AMMA President and Questions Mammootty’s Silence Amidst Ongoing Sexual Harassment Controversy in Malayalam Cinema
WCC member Sajitha Madathil has been vocal about the scandal that broke out in Mollywood by criticizing Mohanlal for his resignation from AMMA and by demanding Mammootty to quit the organization. Later in an interview Sajitha criticized Mohanlal by saying that he want to avoid responsibility by leaving the post rather than concentrating on the matters that matters.

Sajitha pointed out that being an influential personality in the industry, Mohanlal should have come forward to address the issues and assist the affected parties. She said she is disheartened by the event and added that Mohanlal is a strong personality in the industry and ‘he should have stayed and try to set right things’.

Also, Sajitha expressed her anger at the non reprsentation of Mammootty on the issue, especially the Justice Hema Committee Report on sexual harassment prevalent in the industry. She said that similar other persons like B. Unnikrishnan (actor-director) have come up with some press releases and yet there was no press release given out by Mammootty, which was of major concern.

The issue has raised several allegations against personalities of the Malayalam film fraternity; many complaints and FIRs have been registered against the actors and directors. Sajitha’s comment shows that the frustration level and clarion call for change within the industry are quickly gaining the pace.
