Abhay Deol Challenges Traditional Views on Sexuality and Masculinity: “I Embrace All Experiences and Reject Rigid Labels”
Abhay Deol who has proved himself in various characters of movies like Dev D and Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! , has never been a media stereotype. Responding to the various sexual innuendos in his films with The Dirty Magazine, Deol addressed matters of sexuality and political correctness as well as Bun Tikki, directed by non-binary filmmaker Faraz Arif Ansari.
A Spectrum of Sexuality: The way Abhay Deol handles questions about how he views sexuality might have made the audience look at things in a new way. He said, ‘I see sexuality as a spectrum,’ which strikes as a reasonable explanation from a man blessed with such a great mind. Well, I do not accept the lines between sexuality because so clear and simple all western divide, The practice and identity of the East is so different, I select not to define and this may sound shocking but for me, sexuality is not something that should be defined.
He continued expanding on that view, stating, ‘But I’m talking as if in my opinion we are all they/them.’ He said that people with labels define for themselves to simply justify that other people can easily fit the provided boxes. “Why should I define myself on Western labels? I have accepted every experience in my life and I keep on doing so. I really do not know how to classify that, I do not want to classify that. All here have the masculine and feminine side so as for me, we are all they/them.”

Views on Masculinity: Apart from that Deol also made some statements with regards to masculinity. He referred to it as the ability to comfort people They are also known to say that as a man, they see themselves as security providers. However, there was also information that he stated that he would be happy to step down and join the team with a woman at its head if, in case, she decided on this.
Living a Low-Key Life: Nevertheless, growing up as Abhay Deol, one would expect him to lead a flamboyant lifestyle but he rather leads a quiet life. He mentioned that he mainly stays at his house in Goa and has been splitting his time between India and Los Angeles for the last nine years, appreciating the privacy that Los Angeles provides.
