Acting

The lead role in the movie is played by Imran Zahid and he has done a fantastic job in it. Imran is known for his performance in plays such as The Last Salute and is a well-known actor in the theatre circle. In an interview, Imran said– “I identify very closely with my character Abhay Shukla. I am from Bihar, and I know about the struggles of young students in the state to make a name for themselves. I may not be the right person to say this, but I feel I am the best person to play this character.”

Shruti Sodhi, the news anchor, made her Bollywood debut with this movie. Her role as the leading actress was also well portrayed as she carried it off with such grace and finesse. She did make the “girl-next-door” character believable and lovable. The supporting actors have also done a good job of giving the movie the strength it has received. The movie also features veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt in a special role.

Though the movie has done a good job in bringing forward the story and struggle of writing the exam and everything that follows- something any UPSC aspirant can relate to very well, it could have used a much better storyline. The movie misses a certain level of depth, and the scene transitions should have been better. Nevertheless, the movie is something you could pick to watch on the weekend to feel inspired. For all the UPSC or any government exam aspirants out there, this movie could be the push you need.
