In the year 2021, long-awaited Bollywood movie sequels are still indecisive of whether to go for a theatrical release or go on OTT platforms. Some of them are anticipated to release this year while others are still waiting to begin shooting.
The year 2020 was one of the toughest years for the cinema world and cinephiles. With the beginning of 2021, most of the cinema lovers were expecting a theatrical release. Unfortunately, the pandemic continues to wreak 2021 and most of the film’s release dates are postponed. This series includes many charming sequels for which the audience were waiting eagerly. Some of them belong to the popular franchise while others are the result of unexpected success garnered by the original.
So here is the list of most anticipated Bollywood sequels in 2021:
1. Dostana 2
Who can forget the sizzling performance of Priyanka Chopra earned a sobriquet ‘Desi Girl’. There was wonderful chemistry between the 2 main lead characters, Abhishek and John Abraham. Released in 2008 this film was a light-hearted comedy focusing on gay romance. So, people are really looking forward to part 2.
Earlier Kartik Aryan, Janvi Kapoor, and Lakshya were expected to share screen but about 2 months ago Dharma production officially announced about the recasting of the film giving air to all kinds of speculations. Karan Johar alleges Kartik of being unprofessional and tampering with the script.
Later, it came out that Kartik and Janvi had an ugly fight and eventually Kartik left the film.

2. Badhaai Do
Winning hearts of millions, Ayushman Khurana manages every time to live up to the expectations. With a very talented star cast like Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao, Ayushman Khurana and Sanya Malhotra, Badhaai Ho was a big hit at box office. 3. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2
Bhool Bhulaiyaa released in 2007 was a psychological-thriller comedy. This movie was a remake of Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu. Well, Akshay Kumar has really aced this genre, but this time Kartik Aryan takes the responsibility to tickle our funny bones. Apart from him Tabu and Kiara Advani are also part of this popular franchise. Hopefully, the talented actors manage to grip the audience just as the original one did.

4. Bunty Aur Babli 2
This time Rani Mukherjee will be seen romancing with Saif. Bunty aur Babli 2 also has some fresh faces like Sharvari Wagh and Gully Boy famed actor, Sidharth Chaturvedi. This film is again produced by Aditya Chopra and will be a directorial debut by Varun V. Sharma.
5. Satyameva Jayate 2
Written by Milap Zevari, Satyameva Jayate 2 is a vigilante action film that wa expected to be released in April 2021. But due to covid the release was postponed as the makers are expecting a theatrical release. John will be seen playing double roles as Satya and Jay opposite Divya Khosla Kumar.
6. Hungama 2
Finally, much to people’s relief Hungama 2 is scheduled to stream on Disney+ Hotstar on 23 July 2021. It is a sequel of Paresh Rawal, Akshay Khanna and Aftab Shivdasani starrer Hungama which received a lot of appreciation from the viewers. Hungama 2 is a romantic comedy reviving all the madness of the original. You can consider this as a comeback film for Shilpa Shetty after 14 years. Pranita Subhash and Meezaan Jaffrey are also playing pivotal roles.

7. Go Goa Gone 2
Released in 2013, Go Goa Gone actually managed to carve its niche in Bollywood and got a surprise hit. This was the first zombie movie of Bollywood starring Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu and a bunch of fresh faces. A year ago, there was an official announcement from the makers of the film that the lovers of the original film can expect a part 2 in 2021.
