India is fighting the 2nd wave of COVID-19 and these Bollywood stars are helping.
India is fighting the second wave of COVID-19. The second wave is stronger than the first one and everyday new daily records are being made. The situation is bad as India struggles due to a shortage of hospital beds, COVID-19 drugs like Remdesivir, and oxygen cylinders. Amid all of this, some Bollywood celebrities have been doing their best to use their privilege and reach to help out those in need. Here are a few of the many Bollywood stars that have been aiding COVID-19 relief.
Sonu Sood
Sonu Sood was recognized for his compassion and leadership during the first wave of COVID-19. Throughout the first wave, Sonu made sure that migrant workers reached their homes, homeless and jobless people got food and other resources. He also helped people with all kinds of medical requirements liked medicines, beds etc. Sonu Sood is also very active now, personally making sure that all requests and pleas are resolved.

Bhumi Pednekar
Bhumi who recently tested positive for COVID-19 is helping spread awareness about the vaccine. She is also using social media to amplify the pleas of people who are in need. According to an Instagram post on her account Bhumi is trying to help by “identifying resources to enable facilitation and access to medical supplies, plasma requests and donors,”. She has requested people to DM her if they are needed. She also requests people to donate not only cash for numerous relief funds but also go out and donate plasma if they are eligible to do so.
Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar has been known to be a big philanthrope, donating money to relief funds whenever there is an actual need. Akshay is one the biggest Bollywood stars and with his wife Twinkle Khanna, he is helping India fights the COVID-19 pandemic. Only last year he had made headlines when he donated 25 crore rupees to the PM relief fund. Very recently he donated 1 crore to Gautam Gambhir Foundation which is working to provide the needy with food, meds and oxygen.

Priyanka Chopra
Although, Priyanka currently resides in the UK with her husband Nick Jonas, has been helping Indians by sharing information on social media that may come in handy for those in need. Through her enormous fan base, she is trying to spread information about covid-19 resources. Being one of the biggest Bollywood stars and now a Hollywood star, Priyanka’s thoughts and prayers have always been directed towards her home. She recently started a fundraiser for India. Announcing the fundraiser she sent a video post asking people to donate and help her home. She can be seen teary-eyed, saying India is my home and India is bleeding. And we, as a global community, need to care.”
Salman Khan
Arguably the biggest Bollywood star right now, Salman Khan has been quietly helping people during these trying times. Since last year he has been sending food packets to people in need. Last year he also pledged to financially support 25,000 wage workers from the film industry. Recently he was seen in a video, personally checking the hygiene and quality of the food packets being sent out. On last Sunday alone he sent 5000 food packets.

One of the biggest Bollywood stars, Alia has joined hands with the popular journalist and reporter Faye D’Souza to help out people in need. She regularly posts information about COVID-19 resources so that anyone in need can get prompt help. She had recently tested positive for COVID-19.
While a number of Bollywood stars chose to escape the second wave of COVID-19 and vacation in exotic locations, these Bollywood heroes chose to help the people who need it.
