Voting for the positions of “sarpanch” and “panch,” according to the officials, will take place via ballot boxes starting at 8 a.m. and running until 4 p.m. The officials also mentioned that the ballots will be tallied at the polling places after the polls close.

19,110 polling places are being used for the election; 1,187 of these have been designated as hyper-sensitive. It is important to remember that the state has 13,225 gram panchayats. ‘Sarpanch’ will be elected by 9,398 gram panchayats, according to officials. According to the officials, 3,798 candidates were elected to the position of “Sarpanch” without facing any opposition. Elderly, young, and female voters were observed waiting in line outside several polling places as early as the polls opened.

About 96,000 staff members have been assigned to election duty by the state EC. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann urged the populace to use their right to vote in a free and equitable manner on Monday. On Monday, the Punjab and Haryana High Court dismissed a number of petitions challenging various aspects of the panchayat elections, including delimitation, ward demarcation, poll symbol grievances, nomination paper rejection, and extension of time.
