Hyderabad Elections 2024- BJP candidate Madhavi Latha, was amidst in controversy following the release of a video tape in which she was seen verifying voter identification cards while at a polling place.

Madhavi Latha, the party-mate of the BJP from Hyderabad, got herself into a controversy after the video clip came out showing her checking voter ID cards during a polling booth visit amidst Hyderabad Elections 2024. In the video, Latha is seen on the woman inside the booth asking Muslim women to take off the Burkha and show their voter identity cards while also verifying their voter ID.

The former projected what she said when asked about it, “I am a candidate. “Legally, the candidate is allowed to verify the ID cards even without the facemasks. I am not a man, I am a woman and I have only asked them humbly – can I please see and verify with the ID cards. If somebody tries to make a big deal of it, it means they are frightened.

At the beginning of the same day, Latha had also talked about the problems she had found in the voter list in her constituency. She condemned the police persons for their timidity and inattention, showing that some of the senior citizen voters were removed from the list and others who were Goshamahal residents were put in the list of Rangareddy.

Latha, at the Amrita Vidyalayam polling station in Hyderabad for the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, cast her vote and stressed the fact that “Sabka Sath mai hi Sabka Vikas Hai. ” She is up against the four-time Lok Sabha MP and AIMIM chief, Asaduddin Owaisi, the BSRS’ GaddamThis is the first time in the history of BJP that the city of Hyderabad had a female candidate.

The city Collector of Hyderabad has given a statement on X, “A case has been registered in Malakpet Police station against Smt Madhavi Latha, the BJP candidate, under sections 171C, 186, 505(1)(c) of IPC and Section 132 of the Representation of the People Act.
