Steve Jyrwa of Shillong emerged India’s Best Dancer Season 4. The Sunday finale declared Steve as the winner and takes home prizes worth Rs 15 lakhs, besides a new car. Raktim Thakuria, his choreographer, too bagged prize money of Rs 5 lakhs for being an effective mentor. The judging panel, comprising Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor and renowned choreographer Geeta Kapur along with Terence Lewis, also appreciated Steve’s exceptional talent. The judging panel also requested Karisma Kapoor to praise Steve’s journey as nothing less than inspiring.

The journey to the title by Steve Jyrwa was almost thrilling. Other finalists were no less-tough competition like Harsh Keshri, Nextion, Nepo, Akanksha Mishra aka Akina, and Aditya Malviya, but his performance and unique style of dance still conquered all the hearts of the judges as well as the audience, which made him the winner.

Talking about his victory, Steve said he was thankful being the winner and still couldn’t believe this life-changing achievement of his career. That means a lot to me,” he said at one time, “I have seen my family struggle a lot because of me in terms of money and with relatives too. Apart from my nani and mother, my family was against me dancing. I have proved them wrong. My win is an answer to all their doubts… That we can accomplish a lot of things with dance.

Steve’s story is not so much winning a reality show but also winning over his personal demons. He went on to reveal that as a child, he could not walk properly but with the care and dedication of his grandmother, he regained his strength again. He owes everything to his grandmother as he claims, “As a child, I couldn’t walk and now I’m famous for my footwork.”. I can walk and dance today, walking and dancing today owing to her strength and dedication.

The journey of Steve, a challenged child who transforms to emerge the country’s best dancer itself is inspiring. His victory gives out a strong message across on how passion and determination can break barriers. In a post-show interview, it is known that Steve is actually lined up for some fantastic projects. As hinted by Steve, he will be returning to appear in an episode of the new show India’s Best Dancer vs Super Dancer’s Champions Ka Tashan wherein he would get to groove in front of the judges, Remo D’souza and Malaika Arora. The new series hits the stands on November 16, and so, it is another exciting chapter that Steve is adding to his dancing career.
