Earthquake in Japan shook the whole population. Earthquake measuring 7.1 magnitude struck southern Japan on Thursday. Many cities have experienced the impact of its shocks. Japan has released a tsunami alert following the earthquake.
Japan meteorology issues warning
As a result of powerful tremors, a warning for a tsunami has also been announced. A tsunami is forecasted to make landfall in southern Japan at 07:50 GMT. The earthquake registered a magnitude of 7.1 on the Richter scale. Nevertheless, the initial figure was reported as 6.9, but it was later adjusted. A warning for a tsunami has been announced for Japan’s coastal regions, specifically for Miyazaki, Kochi, Ihime, Kagoshima, and Aita. In addition to that, a task force has been established by the government.
Kyushu city was the epicentre
The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 8.8 km beneath the surface in Kyushu city, Japan. Hence, Miyazaki, Kochi, Kagoshima, and Ihime cities are under a tsunami advisory. Miyazaki, Kyushu witnessed sea waves reaching a height of one meter. The earthquake originated 20 km north-east of Nichinan at a depth of 25 km. The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami alert for the coastal regions of Kyushu and Shikoku, located in southern Japan. The earthquake happened within 20 miles of Miyazaki’s coastline, as stated by the United States Geological Survey.
Fear among people
Prior to this incident, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake had already struck Japan on January 1. In this incident, 318 individuals lost their lives and 1300 individuals were wounded. The earthquake in Ishikawa caused fires to start at numerous locations. As a result of this, 200 buildings were reduced to ashes. Once more, the population is feeling afraid because of the earthquake.
