Delhi Assembly Session: The three-day assembly session in Delhi with the newly elected MLAs commenced on Monday. Delhi’s chief minister Rekha Gupta, accompanied by Bharatiya Janata Party Viejnder Gupta. On Day 2, the Delhi Assembly experienced a commotion from the opposition immediately, prior to the BJP government’s attempt to present the 14 outstanding CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General of India) reports regarding the former Aam Aadmi Party government’s performance.

The outstanding audits encompass evaluations of state finances, public health systems, vehicular emissions, liquor laws, and the operations of the Delhi transport corporation, among various other aspects.

The BJP has claimed that the AAP administration “blocked” the CAG reports. 

Atishi questions if BJP considers PM superior to Ambedkar

After her suspension from the Assembly, Opposition Leader Atishi told the media, “The BJP has substituted Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s image with that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Chief Minister’s office within the Delhi Secretariat and Assembly, as well as in the offices of all ministers in the Delhi Secretariat.” Do they think the Prime Minister surpasses Babasaheb Ambedkar and can assume his role? 

LG states that the BJP government has directed all departments to create a 100-day plan

On Tuesday, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena informed the Delhi assembly that the BJP administration has directed all departmental heads to create a 100-day plan along with a framework for the necessary development projects. 

“During the initial cabinet meeting of my administration, we resolved to present the CAG report in the assembly for all to see, thereby revealing the previous government’s administrative shortcomings and allowing us to address them,” Saxena stated. 

AAP MLA claims dictatorship is at its peak 

AAP MLA Jarnail Singh commented on the suspension of him and his colleagues from the Assembly for chanting slogans against the supposed removal of Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh’s portraits from the Delhi CM’s office, stating that this action signifies “dictatorship is at its peak.” 

“The images of Dr. BR Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh were taken down…They are not providing us with any response. They simply suspended us from the assembly,” he informed. 

LoP Atishi sat ‘Will Keep Protesting Until…’

Following a day’s suspension from the Assembly by Speaker Vijender Gupta, Opposition Leader Atishi informed reporters, “The BJP has swapped Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s portrait with that of PM Modi in the Chief Minister’s office and in the offices of cabinet ministers… Is PM Modi greater than Dr. BR Ambedkar?…” “We will continue to protest until the portrait of Dr. BR Ambedkar is displayed properly.” 

AAP MLAs who were Suspended Demonstrate Outside the Assembly Grounds

The suspended AAP MLAs, featuring Leader of Opposition Atishi, are staging a protest in the Assembly grounds. The leaders had chanted slogans in the Assembly, immediately when the House began, to protest the supposed substitution of Ambedkar’s portrait with that of PM Modi in the Delhi CM’s office. 

AAP MLA claims we were suspended for inquiring whether PM Modi is greater than Ambedkar

Following his suspension from the Delhi assembly for the day, AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha informed news agency ANI that Speaker Vijender Gupta had suspended him and his colleagues for questioning whether PM Modi surpasses Dr. BR Ambedkar. The purported inquiry was directed at the AAP’s assertions that the image of Babasaheb was swapped for that of PM Modi in the Delhi Chief Minister’s office on Monday. 

“They (BJP) despise Dr. BR Ambedkar, but the nation will not tolerate this,” he stated.

Ongoing blame shifting has harmed capital over the last decade, says LG

During the second day of the Delhi assembly, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena criticized the previous AAP government, stating that “ongoing conflicts and the blame game over the last 10 years have harmed Delhi.” He remarked that the BJP government is not collaborating with the Centre and other states. 

BJP spokesperson claims AAP silenced CAG reports

BJP national spokesperson CR Kesavan informed news agency PTI that the AAP government suppressed the CAG reports and made sure they were never disclosed “as they are aware that the CAG report evidence would be so damaging and reveal the fraud of the Aam Aadmi Party.”
