As a result, heavy rainfall is expected over East India during the next two days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). On September 16, Jharkhand is probably going to see occasional, exceptionally heavy rains, which will cause the IMD to issue a red warning for the state. On September 17, a drop in intensity is anticipated, and an orange alert will be in effect.
Over the next 24 hours, it is anticipated that a deep depression over Gangetic West Bengal—which is currently situated roughly 60 km west of Kolkata, 110 km southeast of Bankura, 170 km east of Jamshedpur, and 270 km east-southeast of Ranchi—will weaken into a depression and move into Jharkhand and North Chhattisgarh.

There will also have an impact on other states in the region: On September 16, isolated, extremely heavy rainfall is predicted in Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal; Bihar is now under an orange alert. Similar amounts of rain are expected to fall on Odisha between September 16 and 17. An orange alert is in effect for Chhattisgarh due to heavy rainfall on September 16–17. Heavy rain is predicted for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura between September 18 and 21.
