Pramot Singh Unharmed
Fortunately, Pramot Singh, aged 56, confirmed his safety, stating, “I am fine and doing well. The bullets did not hit me, and my driver also escaped without any injuries.” This incident follows Singh’s booking in July on charges of promoting enmity between different groups and participating in a criminal conspiracy, following a complaint from a Kuki group amidst ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur.
The violence, stemming from tensions between the dominant Meitei and tribal Kuki communities, has resulted in at least 175 casualties and the displacement of over 50,000 people since May 3. Kuki groups have accused radical organizations like Meitei Leepun and Arambai Tenggol of fueling and perpetuating the violence in Manipur.
