Tripura CM Manik Saha Commends BSF’s Efforts in Securing India-Bangladesh Border

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has applauded the Border Security Force for its important role in the safety of the 856 km-long India-Bangladesh border. The chief minister of the state on the 60th Raising Day of BSF commended the effort of the force for preserving the fencing of the border with advanced surveillance technologies and by developing amicable relations with local communities.

Saha has brought out the hard work of BSF in protecting the frontier, where it remains vigilant against cross-border infiltration, smuggling, and illegal migration. In this very year, 675 illegal people, including 55 Rohingyas, were apprehended in Tripura. Moreover, the BSF personnel seized contrabands worth ₹46 crore.

At the frontier headquarters, during the event, Saha emphasized that the government has zeroed in on the strengthening of border security with advanced technologies and robust infrastructure. He assured that steps are being taken to upgrade the border fencing and the welfare of the personnel of BSF at large. Being the Home Minister of the state, he emphasized the need to fight against the emerging technological threat from the terrorists.

“With terrorists ever so often resorting to the latest sophisticated technologies, we have to adapt efficient and innovative ways of response,” said Saha. He said that BSF had been working continually towards adapting themselves to the present-day challenges while keeping in their main goal of safeguarding the nation.

Senior BSF officials also updated about proactive steps the force is undertaking, including the just-concluded IG-level Border Coordination Conference held at Shillong, Meghalaya. Some key bilateral issues have been discussed with Region Commanders of the BGB in that conference. Increasing cooperation among the two forces, the redressal of grievances border population, and closer ties among the two neighboring nations has remained the focus of discussion during the conference.

The Chief Minister’s words reflect the critical role the BSF plays not only in security but also in coordinating and enhancing the welfare of communities that live close to the border. The efforts to modernize border operations, partnership arrangements with Bangladesh, and other efforts point to a collective commitment to peace and stability in the region.

As long as the state is haunted by a process of illegal migration and smuggling, the BSF will be on top with high priority. More than this, support from the government along with technological improvements in focus would further enhance the BSF’s capability to lead their mission more efficiently and effectively.
