Seven people have been reported dead in a road accident which occurred today on the morning on Saturday near Dhampur in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor. The seven deaths include newly-wed couple. This incident took place when speeding Creta car driven by a person was reportedly trying to overtake another vehicle collided head on with an auto rickshaw near the police station at Dhampur. While crossing to an adjacent lane, the driver of the car failed to see the auto coming and crashed into the auto rickshaw.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek said there were seven people in the auto and six of them died on the spot. Sadly, the auto driver, who is critical, was taken to a hospital, where he was brought dead. The other passengers killed in the accident include the bride and groom. The driver of the Creta too sustained minor injuries with the casualty on the spot, but he was shifted to a hospital nearby for further treatment.

The family in the car was returning after attending a nephew’s wedding in Bihar. This tragic accident has plunged this particular community as well as those families into deep mourning. The police have filed a case against the driver of the Creta, and the latter’s vehicle was impounded for further investigation after the smash.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his profound sorrow for the tragic incidence. He tweeted over X, condoling the tragedy and directed the district administration officials to rush to the scene of the incident right away and step up the process of relief operations. He also emphasized proper medical treatment to the injured and wished them speedy recovery.
This tragic accident throws light into the importance of road safety and its fallouts in case of rash driving. The authorities have assured to probe into the entire incident and try to bring people accountable for it.
