Young IPS Officer Harsh Bardhan Dies in Tragic Road Accident in Karnataka While En Route to His First Posting in Hassan

It is tragic that 26-year-old IPS officer Harsh Bardhan was found dead in a road accident in Karnataka’s Hassan district. This happened on Sunday evening as he was traveling to assume his first posting as a probationary Assistant Superintendent of Police in Holenarasipur. Bardhan, a bright promise and potential young officer full of promise, was from Madhya Pradesh and belonged to the 2023-batch IPS, Karnataka cadre.

Accident Details
The accident took place near Kittane in Hassan taluk as the four-wheeler in which he was traveling had developed a tyre burst. In the process, the car skidded from the road and crashed into a house and a tree. Harsh Bardhan had critical injuries to the head and even after treatment in hospital he died. The driver, one Manjegowda, escaped with minor injuries.

Bardhan had just finished four weeks of foundational training at Karnataka Police Academy in Mysuru and was about to start his career. His journey towards contributing to the society as an IPS officer was cut short in this gruesome accident.

Condolence and Tribute
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed deep sorrow over the incident terming it loss not just for family but for the nation. He posted on X, formerly Twitter, “So extremely sad that this accident happened on the way to take charge as IPS officer. All years of hard work should have brought him a much better destination”. He wished for rest in peace for Bardhan’s soul and supported his grieved family in every way.

A promising career much more than this
Harsh Bardhan was a son of a sub-divisional magistrate and had proved to be extremely sincere and diligent in reaching this milestone. His untimely death underscores how fragile life can be and all the unforeseen challenges that could come within a matter of minutes.

This tragic incident has left the police department and Bardhan’s family mourning the loss of a young officer whose future was filled with potential. The nation joins in extending thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
