Telangana Accident: Five Dead, One Injured as Speeding Car Plunges into Lake Near Jalalpur Village
Five young people died in the accident that occurred this past Saturday morning when their car dived into a lake close to Jalalpur village in Bhoodan Pochampally Mandal. There was one injured during this incident, which is found to have happened when the high-speed car went out of control.
The victims identified include Vamsi, aged 23, Dignesh, 21, Harsha, 21, Balu, 19, and Vinay, 21. The sole survivor of the incident, Manikanth, 21 years of age, is said to be undergoing treatment for the injuries sustained at a local hospital. According to the police, all the persons concerned are from Hyderabad’s LB Nagar locality.
Reports say that the group had gone out very late at night, inebriated by alleged liquor consumption and were moving towards the village to drink the freshly tapped toddy early next morning. Eyewitnesses and preliminary investigation suggest the main cause of the accident as over speeding by which car took a wrong turn out of the road before it crash into the lake.
Local police, after receiving information of the incident, rushed to the spot and conducted rescue and recovery operations. The injured person was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were brought out and sent for postmortem examinations. Photos from the scene depicted the police officials and local people cooperating with each other to extract the submerged vehicle from the lake.
A senior police official said a case had been registered and that investigations were underway to decide the exact cause of the accident. “The bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their families after legal formalities are completed,” the official said. They are also trying to see whether any other reasons, like bad road or mechanical issues, might have caused the accident.
