On September 30, the Supreme Court will consider a plea about the Tupati Laddu controversy filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, former president of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Trust, and Rajya Sabha MP YV Subba Reddy. Subramanian Swamy has petitioned the Supreme Court for an inquiry into the claims made by Chandrababu Naidu, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

A nine-person special investigation team (SIT) was formed by the Andhra Pradesh government to look into the claims of adulterating sacred sweets, Tirupati laddus, with animal fats.

In his plea, Rajya Sabha MP and former president of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Trust YV Subba Reddy has asked for an impartial inquiry commission (SIT) headed by a retired Supreme Court judge to look into these claims.
During a recent NDA legislative party conference, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the previous YSRCP government utilized animal fats and inferior ingredients to make laddus, and that they did not even spare the Sri Venkateswara shrine.The claims wounded the feelings of millions of Hindus by igniting a national debate.
Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad issued a late-night directive on Thursday, stating, “The government of Andhra Pradesh, in accordance with its commitment to protecting the sanctity of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), have (has) considered it necessary to constitute a SIT for detailed and comprehensive investigation of the entire issue.”
