Torrential Rains Devastate Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, 35 Lives Lost
Severe rains in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have claimed 35 lives, causing widespread flooding and damage. Rescue efforts are ongoing as more rain is predicted.

In a tragic case involving unusual weather, continuous raining has wreaked havoc on southern Indian states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh where 35 people lost their lives and property damage. In the last three days we have witnessed some serious flooding that affected daily routines, destroyed property and left thousands of people in a desperate need of help.

In Telangana, it has been worse with top brass confirming that 16 persons died due to rain related incidents. The roads and rail infrastructures in the state have been wantonly destroyed leaving many communities inaccessible. Thus, the unabating rain owing to a depression in the Bay of Bengal has wreaked havoc on the crop lands adversely affecting the farmers with thousands of acres of their farmlands under water.

Revanth Reddy – the Chief Minister of Telangana along with other representatives of the state government put the losses to a shocking ₹5,000 crore. For immediate required relief and rehabilitation, the Maharashtra State has necessitated ₹2000 crore of relief assistance from the Central Govt. The Chief Minister has also advised the collectors and other officials to be alert in this regard in districts including Adilabad, Nizamabad and Nirmal as the IMD has forecast more rains in the coming days.
For Andhra Pradesh it has reported a total of nineteen deaths where most of the causalities have been caused due to sliding lands and other rain related mishaps. The state government said that the floods have affected around 440,000 residents and over 3,100 people have been displaced to shelters. Among them the most affected areas are NTR, Guntur, Krishna, Eluru and Palnadu districts where SDRF & NDRF teams are even now busy in rescue operations.
Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu has not been idle as he has been seen moving from one affected region to another. He has appealed for additional support from the Central Government, including the deployment of helicopters and boats to aid in search and rescue operations. The Indian Navy has already deployed two choppers to assist in these efforts.
Meanwhile, the national political leadership has also taken note of the disaster. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed his condolences to the affected families and urged his party members to contribute to the relief efforts. He called on both the Central Government and the state governments to provide comprehensive rehabilitation packages for those impacted by the floods.

As the rains continue, the full extent of the damage remains unclear. Both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments are working tirelessly to mitigate the crisis and provide relief to the affected populations. However, with more rainfall predicted, the situation remains precarious, and the need for coordinated disaster management efforts is more critical than ever.
