Sikkim flood: Sikkim Schools and Colleges Closed Until October 15
In response to the flash Sikkim flood, Sikkim extended school and college closures until October 15 following initial closure till October 8.
Sikkim flood: The Chief Minister’s decision due to severe weather and flash floods in the Teesta river basin extends school closures.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang’s directive, the Education Department in Sikkim has extended the closure of all government and private schools, colleges, and universities until October 15 due to the Sikkim flood and severe weather conditions.

Sikkim School Closures Extended
This decision came in response to the flash Sikkim flood in the Teesta River basin, which caused significant damage and casualties. Initially, the Education Department had ordered the closure of these educational institutions until October 8.

A cloudburst over Lhonak Lake in North Sikkim led to a flash flood in the Teesta river basin, resulting in 14 fatalities and leaving 102 individuals, including 22 army personnel, missing as of now.
