A first information report has been filed against Shiv Sena member Hemant Patil a day after he instructed the interim dean of a government hospital in Nanded to clean a lavatory where 31 patients died in less than 48 hours. Patil’s Harsh Words Toward Dean

In the footage, Patil is seen giving Dr. Shayam Wakode a broom and instructing him to clean the restroom. “You don’t have basic mugs, and you yell at people for not using the restroom. Do you act in the same way at home? In the viral video, Patil is heard stating. According to PTI, Patil, a member of the Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde faction, later expressed his grief at the state of the government to reporters.

“The government spends crores, but I am pained to see the situation here,” he remarked. The restrooms haven’t been cleaned in weeks. The hospital’s wards have locked restrooms. In toilets, there is no water.

Doctor Association Slams Patil

The Maharashtra State Association of Resident Doctors criticized Patil’s behaviour and requested an unconditional apology from the Shiv Sena MP. The body claimed in a statement that the dean was made to clean restrooms in the open and that it was made sure to be done in front of the media to create a spectacle for political mileage.

Healthcare System in Crisis

“After witnessing the incident, the doctors and the lower-level members of the college administration’s top brass are left with a sense of hopelessness and despair that, despite their best efforts to manage patients in the face of a severe lack of resources, they are being made the scapegoats of the administration’s failure to provide high-quality healthcare.”

The doctor’s body served as further evidence that a lack of medical staff, faculty, and resources led to the recent deaths at the government hospital.
