Red Fort Blast: Panic, Pressure, and Prevention — Inside India’s Swift Anti-Terror Response

Red Fort Blast investigation reveals panic-driven act amid intense anti-terror raids, preventing a major attack across Delhi-NCR.

Red Fort Blast: How Panic Under Pressure and Swift Anti-Terror Raids Prevented a Major Catastrophe in Delhi

A Desperate Act Amid Mounting Pressure

The Red Fort Blast has emerged as a chilling reminder of how quick and coordinated action by security agencies can thwart larger disasters. According to government sources, the explosion near Red Fort was not a calculated terror strike but a panic-driven act by suspects under immense pressure following multiple raids in Delhi-NCR and Jammu and Kashmir. Agencies had recovered massive amounts of explosives during their operations, leading to an atmosphere of fear and urgency among those involved in the terror module. The premature bomb, which failed to create a crater or release shrapnel, indicated that it was not fully developed, confirming that the detonation may have been unintentional or due to mishandling.

Swift Crackdown on Suspected Jaish Module

In what officials described as a “decisive and coordinated” mission, security forces successfully dismantled a suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed module allegedly linked to the Red Fort Blast. The chain of operations began with the discovery of objectionable posters in Naugam, Srinagar, leading to an FIR on October 19, 2025. Subsequent investigations saw the arrests of several suspects, including Maulvi Irfan Ahmad Waghe from Shopian and Zameer Ahmad from Ganderbal. In early November, more arrests followed, including that of Dr Adeel from Saharanpur, and a major weapons seizure from Anantnag hospital.

Major Explosives Haul in Faridabad and Mewat

Raids conducted between November 5 and 10 uncovered a massive cache of nearly 3,000 kilograms of explosives across locations in Faridabad and Mewat. On November 8, a search at Al-Falah Medical College led to the discovery of firearms, pistols, and raw explosive materials. Acting on further leads, another suspect, Dr Muzammil, was apprehended, and multiple accomplices were identified. By November 10, authorities had seized over 2,563 kg of explosives from the home of Hafeez Mohammad Ishtiaq, the imam of Al-Falah Mosque in Dhera Colony, Faridabad, along with an additional 358 kg of detonators and timers. Dr Umar, believed to be driving the car involved in the Red Fort Blast, remains on the run and is suspected to have acted in haste following these raids.

Explosives Found to Be Incomplete and Non-Detonative

Preliminary forensic investigations suggest the materials used in the Red Fort Blast were similar to those seized in Faridabad. Experts concluded that the explosives were “raw and unassembled,” lacking key components such as splinters or metal fragments that could have caused maximum damage. Officials suspect that the blast occurred due to friction or mishandling while the car was in motion near a traffic signal. This assessment aligns with CCTV footage showing the vehicle moving slowly before the explosion occurred.

Rapid Response and NIA Investigation

Immediately after the blast on November 10, security forces, Delhi Police, and central agencies rushed to the scene. Union Home Minister Amit Shah directed the National Security Guard (NSG), National Investigation Agency (NIA), and forensic teams to carry out a thorough probe. The injured were swiftly taken to LNJP Hospital for treatment, and essential forensic and DNA samples were collected. The NIA officially took charge of the investigation on November 11 to examine the funding, network, and operational chain of the terror module responsible for the Red Fort Blast.

Possible Accidental Detonation, Not a Suicide Mission

Authorities have largely ruled out the possibility of a fidayeen (suicide) attack. Evidence from the blast site indicates that multiple individuals were in the vehicle, and all perished instantly, suggesting that it was not a single-person mission. The lack of remote detonation systems and the car’s movement pattern further support the theory of accidental explosion. Officials believe the group might have been relocating explosives to evade detection when the blast accidentally occurred, possibly preventing a major coordinated attack across multiple locations in Delhi-NCR.

Coordinated Security Efforts Prevented a Larger Tragedy

The sequence of raids in Pulwama, Faridabad, and other NCR regions points to a larger terror network that had been under surveillance for weeks. Intelligence agencies credit “pan-India alertness” and cross-agency coordination for averting what could have been a series of devastating explosions. Officers also acknowledged the dedication and vigilance of India’s counter-terrorism teams in identifying and neutralizing these threats before they could be executed.
