Fatehpur: On Sunday, Rajeev Nayan Giri, who had been appointed, took over as Fatehpur’s new Chief Medical Officer (CMO). From Sitapur, he was relocated here. In the first departmental introduction meeting, he declared his priorities and took over from Acting CMO Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed. He stressed meeting the public and said that anyone in need might meet him at any time in order to address public issues.

During the introductory meeting, he gave a tour of the district’s health-related facilities and made it very apparent to the departmental officers that all beneficiary-oriented programs being run in the district would be subject to frequent reviews and progress reports. In addition, he emphasized that more patients should be admitted to CHC and PHC, that emergency services should be efficiently run, and that inspections should take place day or night. Taking care of any shortcomings that are found will be his top concern. He added that physicians would have to remain in their designated quarters.

He underlined the sufficient availability of anti-snake venom injections, which he promised to set up in a day or two given the wet season. Concerned about the TB control campaign’s sluggish progress, Dr. Giri issued a strong warning to remedy this problem. At the meeting were District Tuberculosis Control Officer Shahabuddin, Mangla Prasad, Additional CMO Ishtiaq Ahmed, and other officials.
