After Lok Sabha election results, nobody in India is scared of BJP or PM: Rahul Gandhi in US
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition and a Congress MP, claimed that after the party’s failure to secure a majority on its own in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, people no longer felt fearful of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP.
Further Rahul Gandhi observed, “The other thing that happened was that the fear of the BJP vanished,” while mingling with Dallas, Texas, Indian community members. “We saw that immediately, within minutes of the election result, nobody in India was scared of the BJP or the Prime Minister of India.”
In addition, he stated that his party holds that India is a diversity of ideas, in contrast to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the parent organization of the Bharatiya Janata Party. While the RSS holds that India is a single notion, we hold that India is a collection of ideas.
Regardless of caste, language, religion, custom, or history, we think everyone deserves the freedom to engage, dream, and be given space. Rahul Gandhi stated, “This is the fight, and the fight solidified in the election when millions of Indians saw that the Prime Minister of India was attacking the Indian Constitution.

During the election campaign, the Rae Bareli MP stated that his message, which focused on safeguarding India’s Constitution, struck a chord with the electorate. “What people understood in the election clearly, and I saw it happening, was that when I raised the Constitution, people understood what I was saying,” he stated. “Most importantly, what they understood was that anybody who is attacking the Constitution of India is also attacking our religious tradition,” he continued.
Gandhi claimed that his mission was to instill in Indian politics the principles of humility, love, and respect. “I think what is missing in our political systems and across parties is love, respect and humility,” he remarked. Respect for all those working to create India—not only the strongest, but also the weakest—and humility—in oneself, not in others. That, I believe, is how I view myself,” he continued. Gandhi’s journey to the US is a part of a larger outreach initiative that also included interactions with US lawmakers and University of Texas students. His three-day visit coincides with important elections for assembly in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana as well as the US presidential contest in November.
