Rahul Gandhi attacks PM over latest Hindenburg charge: Clear why he is afraid
Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday expressed concern at the new revelations made by US short-seller Hindenburg Research about SEBI chairperson Madhabi Buch, and said the integrity of the securities regulator has been ‘compromised’.
He also added the recent report by a US short-seller firm gives out a fair idea as to why PM Narendra Modi is scared of a JPC against the allegations.
Hindenburg Research on Saturday night published a new report in which it claimed that it has reason to believe that Sebi has not taken any action against the Adani Group because its head Madhabi Buch has had stakes in the offshore funds related to the conglomerate. “It is shocking to know that SEBI, the securities market regulator which is supposed to guard the wealth of small retail investors has been let down by the Chairperson who stands accused of such improprieties,” Rahul Gandhi went on to tweet on X.

Honest investors across the country have pressing questions for the government: When is the Sebi Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch planning to quit? If people invest their money earned through hardship and lose it all, who will be sitting in judgment – PM Modi, the Chairperson of Sebi, or Gautam Adani? Considering the new and very alarming cases that have be presented or resurfaced to the court, will the Supreme Court intervene in this matter again, suo moto? ,” he said in the video.
On the other hand, the ruling BJP has levelled allegations of the Congress and other opposition parties trying to design financial crisis and confusion in India. The saffron party also rubbished Hindenburg’s allegations against the Sebi chairperson terming it as an attempt to ‘concoct’ a controversy against the financial regulator.
The company, which in the last year raised serious charges against the Adani group, has come under the radar of Indian investigative agencies, said BJP’s Sudhanshu Trivedi. Other political formations repeat it, and now it is obvious that they are intrigued by the desire to destabilize the situation, especially in the financial sphere, he said.
